Nightclub Love
Matt Maltese Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey there city girl
Glad I ran into you here
I am one for nightclubs
But I'll make exceptions for you dear
This music's too loud
And gee I don't like crowds

I pass you a drink while the creeps
Circle around you
Tryin' to figure out
If I'm just one of them too
Dancing six hours
My heart's beating too loud
Wish I could say it's the DJ
But it's probably just

'Cuz I want you
And that's the way it is
I'm gonna be real straight about it
Yes I want you
And that's the way it is
I gotta stop being ironic
I want you

I was talking at you
You overdosing quietly
You pass me your phone
My finger on the 9-9-9 key
But you sobered right up
I bought cranberry vodka
It's good for your bladder
When you said that I knew

That I want you
And that's the way it is
I'm gonna be real straight about it
Yes I want you
And that's the way it is
I gotta stop being ironic
I want yoU

How about I run you a bath?
(When we wake up in the morning)
Will you regret kissing my head?
(When we wake up in the morning)
How about I run you a bath?
(I don't take baths often)
How about you stay here all week?

I want you
And that's the way it is
I'm gonna be real straight about it
I want you
And that's the way it is
I gotta stop being ironic
I want you
And that's the way it is
I'm gonna be real straight about it
Yes I want you
And that's the way it is

It ain't the alcohol, it's kismet
I want you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Matt Maltese's song "Nightclub Love" describe a chance encounter between the singer and a city girl in a crowded nightclub. The singer admits that he is typically a fan of nightclubs, but he will make an exception for the girl he has just met. As they dance the night away, the singer can't help but be drawn to the girl and his feelings become increasingly obvious. The music is too loud and the crowds are suffocating, but he is willing to endure it all just to be near her.

Throughout the song, the singer's desire for the girl becomes more and more overt, culminating in the admission that he wants her and he is not being ironic about it. He offers to run her a bath and suggests that she stay with him for a week. The girl is hesitant, but the singer believes that their connection is fate, not just the result of the alcohol they've been consuming.

Overall, "Nightclub Love" is a romantic and vulnerable song that captures the feelings of infatuation and attraction that can arise in unexpected places.

@reannedomingo4889

Told you I wasn't drunk.

For the person who accepted my nightclub love,

You’re the type to stay at home all day binge-watching movies and playing games, if I don’t know you that well I may even assume you have social anxiety. And as for me, I’m the type to go on out having fun and look for adventure along the way, although it exhausts me. Our personalities are miles apart, I never even thought we’d found our middle ground. You gave me rest, I gave you a taste of thrill and there’s nothing more I could ever ask for. I almost believed that opposites do attract, until things went wrong. Our opposing personalities got in the way and no salvation could completely fix the remnants of collision. Even so, we learned, picked ourselves up from the fall and started again. Now we know that it was never about how similar or conflicting your interests are with the one you love, but the willingness to listen, accept and commit yourself not only partially but in every aspect of their being. Let’s enjoy the best of both worlds, for you are an entire universe and I am my own as well. We still have a lifetime to explore, I will never get tired of knowing you more.

P.S. I miss playing and napping on lazy rainy afternoons with you. Of course, going to places too!!

@davidpalomo7786

I think this song is about something dark(ik weird but listen) its a guy in a nightclub and he likes a girl there whos super drunk
“ im not one for nightclubs,”
( he doesnt like nightclubs)
“ but ill make exceptions for you dear”
( but he goes for her)
and during the beginning hes dancing with her, passes her a drink, helps her by holding her hair outside while she vomits and then takes her home. and then at the
“ how about I run you a bath part”
it starts showing what he was really doing he wasnt crushing on her,
he was Obsessed with her

“ I want you”
“ thats just how it is “
and he runs a bath for her,
and she gets in and shes laughing
and hes in the kitchen cutting something
then when the music, in the end, gets all loopy the scenery changes, hes chopping up fingers and then it leads to blood marks that leads to the bloody bathroom
