Born Free
Matt Monro Lyrics

As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart
Live free and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide
Born free and life is worth living
But only worth living
'Cause you're born free
Stay free where no walls divide you
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide
Born free and life is worth living
But only worth living
'Cause you're born free
The song "Born Free" by Matt Monro is about being free and living a life of purpose. The lyrics suggest that we are born with freedom and that we should follow our hearts and live our lives to the fullest. The first stanza encourages us to be as free as the wind and grass, which are both natural and unrestricted. We should pursue our passions and what makes us happy, without any limitations. The second stanza reminds us that beauty surrounds us and we should appreciate it in all its forms. The world is full of wonder and we should always be amazed by it. Finally, the chorus repeats the idea that we should stay free and live our lives without any walls or barriers. It's only then that we can truly experience what life has to offer.

This was my mom's favorite song. She would run around singing it at the top of her lungs back in the day in Buffalo NY when I was a kid. She died 16 years ago today. She's free of cancer, anxiety and depression now. Miss you mom.
