Beautiful! This is by far my favorite interpretation of this sublime composition

Garrett Harmon

I understand. Personally for me, I would usually stick with the tempo and use rubato sparingly. Although Chopin is Romantic, one should not overuse rubato or the tempo would be all over the place lol.

Noah Johnson

I completely agree with you all the way until the end. To me, Rafal's rubato seems rather calculated and artificial in this recording, or so it sounds to me...

Garrett Harmon

His interpretation is excellent. He creates magical moments evoking emotions throughout. But, not as dramatic as Pollini. There was not enough powerful dynamics by a miniscule margin in Rafal's interpretation imo. Although his soft dynamics were incredible, I was missing the intense fortissimo dynamics which Pollini brillianty produced throughout his interpretation. I loved Rafal's rubato though.

Noah Johnson

What do you think of Rafal's interpretation?

Sue Smith

I've listened to half a dozen versions of this work and Pollini's is the masterful performance. I love his Chopin; it's muscular, poetic and granitic all at once.

Transcendent beauty. Chopin at his poetic best, the quintessential Romantic poet.

All the polonaises are wonderful but this one is perhaps the most complex and rich! Love it! I tried to play it many times...

3:45 motif is so simple yet so magical. i almost hear some Beethoven there

Noah Johnson
