After the commercial success of Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and earning a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", Meat Loaf nevertheless experienced some difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. The key to this success was his popularity in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He received the 1994 Brit Award in the United Kingdom for best-selling album and single. He appeared in the 1997 film Spice World and he ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts in 2006. He ranks 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". Meat Loaf appeared in over 50 films and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His film roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Robert Paulsen in Fight Club (1999). His early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and Off-Broadway.

Hey boy, oh boy, you better wait for your turn
And every day of my life I get the same old line
Hey boy, oh boy, when are you going to learn
I want to go on the red, I want to go on the green
I want to go on all colors that I see in between
I want to run all the tolls, I want to run all the signs
I want to run all the way across a double white line
But every day of my life I see the same old road
Hey girl, oh girl, we gotta pull up our routes
And every day of my life I see the same old dream
Hey girl, oh girl, I need a dream I can use
I want to go on the red, I want to go on the green
I want to go on all colors that I see in between
I want to run all the tolls, I want to run all the signs
My body is the car and my soul is the ignition
Your love will be the key and we'll jockey for position till we
Peel out, peel out, peel out, we're sick and tired of waiting in line
Peel out, peel out, peel out, nobody's taking our time
Peel out, peel out, peel out
Tire tracks and broken hearts, that's all we're leaving behind
There oughta be a law and there better be a crime
There oughta be a law and there better be a crime
And every night of my life there's something holding me back
Hey girl, what is it boy, oh girl, I know it's time to cut loose
And every night of my life I dream of someone like you
Hey girl, what is it boy, oh girl, you got a dream I can use
Tire tracks and broken hearts, that's all we're leaving behind
My body is the car and my soul is the ignition
Your love will be the key and we'll jockey for position till we,
Peel out, peel out, peel out, we're sick and tired of waiting in line
Peel out, peel out, peel out, nobody's taking our time
Peel out, peel out, peel out, we're sick and tired of waiting in line
Peel out, peel out, peel out, nobody's taking our time
Peel out, peel out, peel out, we're sick and tired of waiting in line
Peel out, peel out, peel out, nobody's taking our time
Peel out
Meat Loaf's song Peel Out speaks to the frustration and restlessness that many feel in their everyday lives. The lyrics describe a desire to break free from the monotony and constraints of society's expectations. The singer longs to "go on the red" and "run all the signs," to disregard rules and boundaries and pursue life with reckless abandon. They see the same old road and the same old dream every day and long for something more exciting.
However, the song is not merely about rebellion and recklessness. It is also a love song. The singer's body is the car, their soul the ignition, and their love interest the key. Together, they will "jockey for position" and "peel out" into a new, exciting future. The tire tracks and broken hearts left behind serve as a reminder of the risks taken and the passion that fuels them.
In summary, Peel Out is a song about the frustration of feeling trapped in a life that seems repetitive and mundane. It is about the desire to break free and pursue a more exciting and fulfilling future, preferably with a partner by one's side.
