After the commercial success of Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and earning a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", Meat Loaf nevertheless experienced some difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. The key to this success was his popularity in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He received the 1994 Brit Award in the United Kingdom for best-selling album and single. He appeared in the 1997 film Spice World and he ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts in 2006. He ranks 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". Meat Loaf appeared in over 50 films and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His film roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Robert Paulsen in Fight Club (1999). His early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and Off-Broadway.

I'd like to dedicate it to you
I'm just a white boy
I play the guitar
I put my pants on
I drive a shit car
Up into the valley
She's got a big couch
She's got a Mercedes Benz
Sing hallelujah
My glass is half full
She pours me champagne
She drinks a Red Bull
And she says 'darling
One thing thing you got to understand
As long as I am satisfied
Well, you will always be my man
You know that I, I'll give you all the love that have
I'll empty all my pockets and I give you what I can
You know that I, I'll give you all the love that have
I'll give you all the love that I can
Los Angeloser
Los Angeloser
Los Angeloser
I'll give you all the love that I can
Oh yeah
We got the sunshine
We got the good friends
We [do-si-do] and all the time
Out in the wilderness
She always looks fine
She's gonna be the one to make it
And I'll be two steps behind
You know that I, I'll give you all the love that have
I'll empty all my pockets and I give you what I can
You know that I, I'll give you all the love that have
I'll give you all the love that I can
Los Angeloser
Los Angeloser
Los Angeloser
I'll give you all the love that I can

I say this
I say this with the deepest appreciation for all you ladies out there
Especially the ones who've shown a little love for someone such as myself
You believed in me
Loved me
If it wasn't for you
There would be no me
I thank you baby
The way you save me
I would repay you
But I'm too lazy
I thank you baby
The way you save me
I would repay you
But I'm too lazy
You know that I, I'll give you all the love that have
I'll empty all my pockets and I give you what I can
You know that I, I'll give you all the love that have
I'll give you all the love that I have
I wrote you this poem
I'd like to dedicate it to you
Meat Loaf's song Los Angeloser is a love song with an interesting twist. The singer in the song is a white boy who plays the guitar, wears regular clothesl, and drives a mediocre car, indicating that he's not wealthy. The singer travels from his place up to the valley to see his girlfriend, who is described as having a big couch and a Mercedes Benz, indicating that she's wealthy. The girlfriend pours the singer champagne and drinks Red Bull, implying that she's high-energy, and she professes that she only needs to be satisfied in the relationship for the singer to always be her man. The singer declares his love for her, saying he'd give her all he can.
The chorus, "Los Angeloser," is a reference to the city where the couple lives, Los Angeles, as well as to the idea that the singer is a loser in comparison to his girlfriend's status. In a way, the song can be interpreted to be a satire of the desire to be rich and famous. While the singer is in awe of his girlfriend's wealth, he and the listener are eventually reminded that love goes beyond material possessions, as he states that he'd give all his love even if he can't offer much more.
