Robert Pearlman
I want to say something here. Leonard Nimoy was an actor of the highest quality. This scene is breathtaking. Yes, he's communicating with a giant rock monster, but what exactly is this creature saying? Her children are being murdered by the miners. She is outraged, they are her babies. And it is Mr. Spock who explains it all with the Vulcan Mind Meld. He takes this scene and turns it into a piece of acting that is mesmerizing. This show was way ahead of it's time. Most of the original cast are gone. Leonard, you were great in the role of Spock.

Such a good dramatic scene..
Mr Trek
Another example of why original Star Trek was never a kids show and simply oozed class and style. Nimoy's performance in this scene was just epic! Shatners facial expressions too, a mixture of concern and compassion, and Kelly's performance, acting as a professional medical expert under bizarre conditions! There is only one Trek for me, original Trek!

I played Mass Effect long before I watched Star Trek TOS, and this reminded me of the terrible, existential sorrow presented by the Rachni Queen. I feel so badly for scary alien mothers going to great lengths for their species, for their children. Spock's role as a vessel for her emotions is tragic and heartbreaking.
