Se Vlepo Sto Potiri Mou
Melina Aslanidou Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Melina Aslanidou's song "Se Vlepo Sto Potiri Mou" depict a person who is lost in their thoughts, with their mind fixated on someone else. The opening lines "Se vlepo sto potiri mou kai pinontas se pino" (I see you in my glass and as I drink, I drink you too) express how the person is consumed by thoughts of the other person, almost as if they have become a part of them. The repetition of the line "kai otan teleiosei to poto, den ksero ti tha gino" (and when the drink is finished, I don't know what will happen) emphasizes the uncertainty and anxiety the person feels about what will happen when their thoughts are not focused on the other person.
The second verse of the song "San akourdisto roloi pou den pairnei pia strofi, to mialo mou echei meinei sti diki sou ti morfi" (like a deaf clock that can no longer turn, my mind has remained fixated on your form) further highlights the intensity of the singer's fixation on the other person. The use of the metaphor of a broken clock that cannot move further suggests that the singer is also stuck in their feelings, unable to move on.
Overall, the song captures the feeling of being trapped in one's thoughts and the inability to let go of someone else. Through its poignant lyrics and melancholic melody, it conveys the sense of loss and despair that often accompanies unrequited love.
