Vrehei Pali Apopse
Melina Aslanidou Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
These lyrics are from the song "Vrehei Pali Apopse" by Melina Aslanidou. In these four paragraphs, the singer reflects on the rain falling again in the poor houses and contrasts them with a corner in her own place where it is warm. She mentions how she has forgotten the old love and how the rain is also falling in the small neighborhood.
In the first paragraph, the singer observes the rain falling in the poor houses and acknowledges that despite this, in her own corner, it is warm. This contrast highlights a sense of comfort and refuge in her own space, while also recognizing the difficult conditions others may be facing. The singer also mentions that she has forgotten the old love, possibly suggesting that she no longer feels the same warmth and happiness she used to associate with love.
The second paragraph introduces another character passing by the singer's house. This person stands and cries in the corner. The lyrics describe this person as carrying the fire of love in their heart but also feeling the coldness on their lips. This juxtaposition expresses the emotional struggle the person is experiencing, having a passionate love inside but feeling the numbness or hesitation in expressing it. This could also be a reflection on how the singer views herself - having forgotten the old love and feeling distant from it.
In the third paragraph, the singer reminisces about how she used to shine like a star in her small courtyard, captivating the attention of boys. She was an irresistibly sweet wound for them. However, now darkness slowly falls in the neighborhood, symbolizing the decline of her charm or appeal. The contrast between her former brightness and the current darkness suggests a loss of the attention and admiration she once enjoyed.
The final paragraph repeats the sentiment of forgetting the old love from the first paragraph. The rain that falls on the small neighborhood serves as a reminder of the past love she has let go of. It implies that the rain may symbolize the tears shed over this forgotten love. The repetition of this theme suggests a sense of longing or regret for what has been left behind. Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of nostalgia, reflection, and the juxtaposition between warmth and coldness in love.
