Finding his voice in a school choir, Crawford began his professional career still a teenager. Having some luck on the London stage in the early 60s, he then found his way onto the BBC and starred in various programmes such as 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em'. He also had film roles in 'The War Lover', 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'. and 'How I Won the War' (which brought him into the same work as John Lennon).
Andrew Lloyd Webber's casting of him opposite Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton as the Phantom in 1986 shot his career into high gear. Winning a Tony Award for his role, Crawford also had the aforementioned tune, "The Music Of The Night", reach the British Top Ten. He has released several studio albums such as 'A Touch of Music in the Night' and 'On Eagle's Wings' among others.

An amazing man, beautiful voice no matter the genre! Bought this CD when first released and found it difficult to choose a favorite song (hymn). Just two days ago we attended a Mass of Christian Burial for a dear, young friend. The friend is only age 42 (taken much too soon) and leaves behind a beautiful wife and four young (ages 4 through 12) fantastic children. During the service, On Eagle's Wings was sung by the church choir in a manner Michael surely would have enjoyed! RIP, Benjamin.🙏

Thank you Aunt Pat for your help when you were there for me when Dad died and you had me play this song for the first time I had heard it in church and my journey has been like an eagle 🦅 did you know that the bald head eagle 🦅 goes up high into the mountains and they find a place between a rock and a hard place in a crevice or a cave hopefully within a covered area of the mountain and they crawl into the tiny space where if you ever saw what they were doing you wouldn’t think that they would live. They scrape their own feathers off of themselves and they stay there with their bald bodies being nutured by the dew in the morning and the drips of water 💧 from within their cave falling upon their bloody bodies and they heal very slowly over time and when their feathers return they are like steel they are so strong that they leave their crevices in the morning of the day when they are ready to fly again they now can fly so high higher up then any crow that might try to ride their back can go because the air is so thin where the eagles 🦅 fly that they don’t need to worry about the crows anymore they die from not having enough oxygen up so high that they simply drop off the eagles back and land on the ground. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart 💜 for believing in me I will always be there for you and our family and I love my cousins like I always have and always will and just like Aunt Kate and Dammy always have said to me that the Lord takes care of the birds of the field not to ever worry He will always take care of you and He always has despite whatever the enemy has done He who is in me, is greater than He who is within the world 🌎 and Satan builds his kingdoms on sinking sand!
