1) MICHELLE is a fresh musical collective hailing from New York City. Weaving in and out of R&B, Pop, Jazz and Indie sounds, the group of six pays homage to these genres through 70s inspired basslines, driving drum beats, plush synths and enticing vocals. Having recently celebrated their first year on the scene as an ensemble, MICHELLE is already solidifying itself as a strong current in a new wave of emerging NYC staples. MICHELLE’s unique stylings are the result of fine-tuned production and arrangements by Julian Kaufman and Charlie Kilgore, with singers Jamee Lockard, Layla Ku, Sofia D’Angelo, and Emma Lee churning out illustrative lyrics and powerful harmonics. Written and recorded in Kaufman’s bedroom over the span of two weeks, their debut album “HEATWAVE” captures a compilation of sentimental moments – snapshots of youth through a New York summer, all immediately recognizable to those who’ve lived them (and those that have wished to).

Glow
Michelle Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
cnd your words they hurt so cold
cnd the worst part is it's the truth that you spit
Ya we are in the after glow
Ya we are in the after glow
I don't know where to go from here
What to say or what to do my dear
You have to be so clear
cbout the things that I just wanna make disappear
Ya your touching my soul
cnd your words they hurt so cold
cnd the worst part is it's the truth that you spit
Ya we are in the after glow
Ya we are in the after glow
You open my eyes
To the things I wanna hide, wanna hide
In the neon lights
Your spinning round and round you got me going up and down
Your perfect to me tonight
Ya your touching my soul
cnd your words they hurt so cold
cnd the worst part is it's the truth that you spit
Ya we are in the after glow
The lyrics to Michelle's song "GLOW" depict a bittersweet and complicated relationship. The singer expresses a deep emotional connection with the person they are addressing, indicating that this individual touches their soul. However, the words spoken by this person are described as cold and hurtful, yet somehow truthful. Despite the pain inflicted, they find themselves entangled in an "after glow," suggesting a lingering attraction or connection that persists even after difficult moments.
The singer appears conflicted and unsure about how to proceed in the relationship. They express confusion about where to go from here and what to say or do. They question why this person has to be so clear about the things they want to make disappear. This could imply that the singer desires to avoid confronting certain truths or addressing uncomfortable aspects of their relationship.
The bridge of the song reveals that this person has opened the singer's eyes to aspects of themselves that they wanted to hide. It seems that being in the presence of this person, represented by the metaphor of neon lights, causes a whirlwind of emotions. Despite the tumultuous nature of their connection, the singer sees this person as perfect for them in the present moment.
