Biography
Spanish singer and songwriter Miguel Rios was born in June 1944. While a student, Rios was getting closer to his passion by singing with his school's chorus and listening to the radio every time twist songs were on the air. By working at a music store, Miguel Rios had the opportunity to meet people related to the local music scene who gave him a chance to start singing in front of an audience, starting as a backup singer. After recording a demo, Rios decided to send it to a major label in Madrid, choosing Philips. The waiting ended in 1961 when the artist was contacted by the label. That same year, Rios moved from Granada to the Spanish capital city, recording an EP called El Twist in 1962 as Mike Rios. Two years later and after six EPs, Miguel Rios was starring in his first movie. That film was called Dos Chicas Locas, Locas. In 1965, the singer left Philips and after working temporarily with Sonoplay, Rios signed up to Hispavox, releasing the smash hit single "Rio" and later his first full-length Mira Hacia Ti. In May 1970, a second album came out including "Himno a la Alegria," based on Beethoven's ninth symphony, which became Miguel Rios' first song to reach a Billboard chart. After leaving Hispavox in the mid-'70s, Rios self-produced an album released by Polygram in 1977. By that time, the artist was getting worldwide recognition. In 1982, Miguel Rios consolidated his career with the live double-album Rock & Rios recorded in Madrid.

Sin Ti

Me enfango en tu recuerdo,
Y nada es igual que ayer.
Bebo por no llorar, y miro,
Una maleta que no sé deshacer.
Y no logro acordarme porqué fue...
Sin ti en la madrugada.
Como el dolor.
Sin ti sé sobrevivir
Sin corazón.
Sin ti vuelven los fantasmas
Con su runrún...
Y nada puedo hacer
Si no estás tú.
Hubo un eclipse total de amor,
Cuando volvió la luz
Ni tú eras tú, ni yo era yo.
Dos extraños, y un ascensor,
Caen al abismo de la desilusión.
Y no puedo explicarme que pasó...
Sin ti en la madrugada.
Sin ti esta cama espanta,
Como el dolor.
Sin ti sé sobrevivir
Sin corazón.
Sin ti vuelven los fantasmas
Con su runrún...
Y nada puedo hacer
Si no estás tú.
Sin ti en la madrugada.
Sin ti esta cama espanta,
Como el dolor.
Sin ti sé sobrevivir
Sin corazón.
Sin ti vuelven los fantasmas
Con su runrún...
Y nada puedo hacer
Si no estás tú.
The lyrics to Miguel Rios's song Sin ti expresses the lonely and painful experience of waking up without the presence of a loved one. The lines "Sin ti despierto al revés" (Without you, I wake up backwards) and "Sin ti, me enfango en tu recuerdo" (Without you, I get lost in your memories) illustrate the disorientation and confusion that comes with the absence of a significant other. The singer is forced to confront the memories of their partner that linger, with no way to shake them off or forget.
The singer is drinking to avoid crying and is haunted by the ghosts of their past, represented by the line "Sin ti vuelven los fantasmas con su runrún" (Without you, the ghosts return with their murmurs). The singer is struggling to move on but cannot do so without their partner's presence. The lyrics also describe a failed relationship, portrayed in the line "Hubo un eclipse total de amor, cuando volvió la luz ni tú eras tú, ni yo era yo" (There was a total eclipse of love, when the light returned neither you were you nor I was me). The singer and their partner have become strangers to one another and the love they once had is gone.
Overall, the song beautifully captures the feeling of loss, loneliness, and heartache that come with the absence of a loved one.
