I purchased this album in 1976, when I was 24 years old. I listened to it once and hated it. I almost threw it away. Instead, I stuck it on a shelf, where it sat until 1984, when I decided to listen to it one more time before tossing it out. Instead, I fell in love with the music. I have no idea what happened to my head during the interim, although there were some major changes in my life. Sometimes you just have to wait for change. This album is still one of my favorites.

I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. However, I couldn't listen to it all the time. Some songs on this album especially pharaohs dance have a profound sour quality to it that's really dark, trippy, and downright anxiety driven. Although, after some listens, this album has become one of the albums I listen to the most usually if I'm trying to be creative.

I got lucky… heard this for the 1st time on nice speakers in a cool North Beach record store in SF. I don’t think I would have liked it either at 24.. but I was all grown up @ 32.. 😜 Now it’s one of my Favorite records of all time.

I always come back to this album especially when Im really depressed. Miles's music is like outerspace (to me). There is no exact emotional connection or display, it goes into a place where emotions are so raw that they are abstract and unidentifiable. Exactly where I want to be right now.

This is my favorite Miles Davis album, if that's even possible. It's just magical, utterly transcendent. The most unique album I've ever heard. I don't even know what music genre this is, I think it's a genre all it's own. Some people might say, "free jazz" or "avant-garde" but to me it's just in another dimension. A true work of genius if there ever was one. I mean, Miles wasn't the only musical genius on this album and the "weakest" musician on this album could play like a motherfucker, world-class. I just can't get over how truly revolutionary and incredible this record is.

I was about 17 years old when this came out having moved on from pop rock, still into psychedelic, prog rock and hard rock while wanting to expand into jazz, blues and other genres. This was perfect especially the title track and introduced me to John McLaughin too eventually Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report, Return to Forever and so on. Great music!! Thanks for uploading!!

Beautiful moments studio-spliced together by Miles' trusted producer in a labour of love of pre-digital composition. So many rabbit holes. So many themes. Moments like 15:20 will haunt you in your deepest ruminations and as you secretly dance alone in your home. Moments like fever dreams, unarticulated evil lurking in the human condition that people pursue mystical experiences to discover, and spend their lives trying to figure out. 20:40 is a herald of some apocalyptic event in the mind. 22:50 ushers in the coolest single baseline-based jam, the woodwind winding around it like an urban street snake-charmers' melody, one of my favourite moments in musical history. Miles snapping his fingers, cueing in musicians, whispering directions. This album divides people, many don't understand it and that's ok. It has the word "bitch" in it. It's heavy, it's fun, it's serious, it's chaotic, it's experimental, it's social, it's an enigma. I've been listening to it for decades. It's music to play late at night over a few drinks or a joint, while you paint or create. You explore inside yourself while you listen. This album is a gem.

I'll never forget the first time I heard this album. As a young teen getting into the more extreme side of metal this was a real eye opener into discordance. I had trouble understanding some of the progressions as I was listening, and my friend who was an old hand in the genre and had grown up with my father said "it's like Lisa said: listen to the notes he's not playing, then you'll understand the scale he's playing outside and can work out the logic". Let's say I've still got to learn all my #13th chords, but at least I've bothered w/ my 7#9s, haha!

This album took me some 40 years to digest.I like it a great deal now,unlike most of Miles Davis earlier work which appealed to me immediately.Its like Sketches of Spain but more moving parts.For me they all seem to fit.I do not know if it is genius or not, but I do enjoy it.Maybe you just have to stay with it.Maybe its my imagination but the tempo or brightness on this file is sharper than on my old album.I no longer have albums however so can't tell.There is an extended version of Bitches Brew with outtakes somewhere and I would like to find that.If you get a link I would appreciate it.

This is the most incredible album I've ever heard!! Not your throw on the music machine for a party that's for sure. A weird thing happened to my son upon listening to it. He asked prior to mowing the lawn of about 5 square acres. What would be some good music to listen while mowing the lawn, Dad? I said here son, this is a good concentrating album. After about 2 1/2 hours had elapsed I decided to check on him. So I looked out over the acreage from my 2nd story home and witnessed the most finely sculptured crop circle I had ever seen.

Listening to this, I can see a clear connection between Davis' Bitches Brew (along with the early free jazz of King Crimson), and one of my favorite styles of music, technical/progressive death metal. It's just amazing how such "seemingly" divergent styles can truly share a common connection. If you listen to say Death's 1990s material, Cynic, Athiest, Opeth, Periphery, and (especially) Between the Buried and Me, you can really hear the free jazz influence :)

An album that changed the face of jazz and started a whole new genre - jazz fusion. Miles really stuck two fingers up to jazz snobs with this and they didn't like it, but it showcases his talent brilliantly. Jazz can be what an artist feels, not what jazz snobs think it ought to be. Great stuff.

1st time I heard this album I didn't get it. That was 30 years ago. Then I heard a band cover Spanish Key. THEN I got it. Now I love it. Miles in the mid to late 60s is an acquired taste.

The way this album is mixed is incredible, there's literally 3 sets of pianos (Left-Right-Center) same with other instruments like drums. I found the original quadraphonic FLACs of this album, just ordered a second pair of speakers. Gonna setup em up in my room's corner and enjoy this as it should be

bought this album when it first came out. knew what jazz was and liked the the form of jazz before that but powwwww became a rabid fan and became an informed enthusiast ever since. over the years had to cover a lot of ground just to add appreciation of the form. but this was the album that kicked my ass in that direction. thank you miles i love you

It takes a very deep thinking person to listen to this music, that being said Miles was in a transitional phase of his life, from the early days of B Bop it was different, until the late 60s and 1970s and 1980s, he change his total inner being, he just expressing his true self.

This is truly a fine example of Miles Davis' work. I enjoy this album, as it is, and find it to be very hauntingly interesting. (I.E. Pharaoh's Dance). I think Miles was one musician that had no limits, kind of like Mingus.

A tour-de-force. Absolutely breathtaking. I first bought this record in 1972 or thereabouts on a dishwasher's wages. Big double LP with a great photo of Miles on the beach. My family and friends thought I'd gone insane. My friends were rockers and held there noses. I couldn't listen to it very loud because my father would come unglued. I bought my first pair of headphones to listen to this. I love Maupin's bass clarinet. One final observation: the Fender Rhodes often sounds dated in other pieces. Not here. Fresh and vital throughout. I could go on and on. Thank God for Bitches Brew.

"Beatches brew" de Miles Davies lo escuché por 1ª ves en el verano de 1972 en mi estudio de Palma de Mallorca, lo trajo unmúsico Jamaicano que tocaba con El Grupo de Eddy Lee
Madson y actuaban en la Isla......fué un shock , flipe incluido, tanto para mi y 3 de los componentes del grupo ELM, la música habia avanzado un siglo y sigue a pesar del traspaso de Miles debido a un cancer de pulmón....de ahi le viene a M.Davis, su peculiar forma de tocar inclinado y prodigarse poco en los temas marcando las bases y creando o resucitando nuevos talentos.
Lo he retratado numerosas veces en diferentes épocas, sempre imoecable.
En su eterna memoria.
