Milo Lyrics

Yah
Yet another, American Apparel tomb
Feral coon, cat scratch fever in a sterile room
Reviewing Tim Kaine's relationship goals while peril looms
My materials will fail me soon
And yet still, complete as a apple core
Too many geeks selling trinkets in uniform
Clay under my fingernails
Etched it in cuneiform
Break out the nae-nae, then the Methuselah pop
And I feel like Arthur Miller when The Crucible drop
The tragic mulatto is neither
Ajamu Baraka with a scyther
We are no longer an ordinary peoples
Occupy myself like an off-roading vehicle
And that DJ over there
He tried to buy power over Karma
I giggle softly like I'm Wilmer Valderrama
Hosting a show about Yo Mama jokes
Treat the last scene like an Aphorism
In these lyrics, Milo touches on various themes and ideas, combining them in a complex and thought-provoking manner. Let's break it down paragraph by paragraph:
In the first paragraph, Milo starts with the phrase "Yet another, American Apparel tomb." This could be interpreted as a commentary on consumerism and the disposable nature of material goods. The reference to American Apparel, a clothing brand known for its trendy and sometimes controversial advertising, suggests a critique of shallow and transient trends. The mention of a "feral coon" and "cat scratch fever in a sterile room" creates a contrasting image of wildness and unpredictability amidst a controlled and sterile environment.
The second paragraph continues with a reference to Tim Kaine, a politician known for his vice-presidential candidacy in 2016. Milo seems to be contemplating the concept of relationship goals amidst the looming threat of danger or uncertainty. The line "My materials will fail me soon" could be a metaphor for the limitations and impermanence of our physical existence. Milo then draws a parallel between rap music and the Apple Store, highlighting an abundance of marketed products and individuality being commodified. "Clay under my fingernails, etched it in cuneiform" could represent the artist's desire to leave a lasting imprint, even within a seemingly superficial industry.
In the third paragraph, Milo combines pop culture references with political commentary. "Break out the nae-nae, then the Methuselah pop" could be referring to popular dance moves and the celebratory nature of youth culture. The mention of Arthur Miller's play, "The Crucible," suggests a metaphorical connection to a time of political persecution and paranoia. Milo compares himself to a tragic mulatto, a mixed-race person experiencing conflicting identities, possibly alluding to the complexities of his own identity. The mention of Ajamu Baraka, an activist and politician, and a scyther, a deadly Pokémon, could represent the potential power and influence that comes with embracing authenticity and a revolutionary spirit.
In the fourth paragraph, Milo shifts his focus to the DJ and their attempt to manipulate fate or karma through their role and music. Milo adds a touch of humor by referencing actor Wilmer Valderrama, known for his role on the show "Yo Mama." This may suggest a mockery of attempts to gain power or control through superficial means. Lastly, treating the last scene like an aphorism implies a reflective and introspective approach to life, perceiving its lessons and meaning in a condensed and profound manner.
Overall, these lyrics showcase Milo's ability to intertwine cultural references, social commentary, and personal introspection, leading to a rich and multi-layered interpretation of his message.
