Origami
Monoh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

How could it be
life\'s an origami and I\'m the paper sheet.

Fate hits me twice,
and no one is cares for me.

(Chorus 1) How could you, how could you...
I\'m going down.
There\'s no place I may rest.
I’m wearing black
From head to toe

(Chorus) But who\'s this feeling: there\'s hope in me.
Lord, forgive me. I don\'t believe

No I can\'t cry
Neither go anywhere outside.
Those dark days
have come here... to stay.

How could you
How...

(Chorus) But who\'s this feeling: there\'s hope in me.
Lord, forgive me. I don\'t believe

Overall Meaning

In "Origami," Monoh contemplates the fragility of life and the idea that we, as human beings, are just delicate paper sheets that can easily be crumpled or torn. The lyrics reflect on the struggles and challenges of fate, which can hit us repeatedly and leave us feeling alone and overlooked. The first verse suggests that the singer feels like they are insignificant and uncared for, despite being a part of the larger fold of life.

The chorus repeats the phrase "How could you" as a lamentation for the difficulties that life presents. However, in the second verse, the singer seems to take a more contemplative and accepting tone. They wear black and seem to be in a state of mourning, but despite this, they also express a feeling of hope. They ask for forgiveness and profess that they don't have the strength to cry, but they also don't want to be constrained by their current circumstances.

The song concludes with the repetition of the chorus, but this time the singer adds the line: "But who's this feeling: there's hope in me." The song seems to be a reflection on the fact that even when things seem their bleakest, there is always the possibility of hope and renewal.
