The band released their third full length album, Mountains Beaches Cities, via BMG on September 10th, 2013. The project was self-produced by Moon Taxi’s own guitarist Spencer Thomson with the help of keyboardist Wes Bailey and was mixed by Vance Powell (Jack White, The Dead Weather) and mastered by Greg Calbi (Talking Heads, Paul Simon, Fleet Foxes). Extensive touring with their raucous live show helped to land them debut performances on the Late Show With David Letterman and CONAN, plus major music festivals appearances at: Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees, Hangout, FireFly, Lollapalooza, Forecastle and more. Moon Taxi has previously toured with Matisyahu, and White Denim. The band’s songs have been featured in a number of TV shows and films including: ABC’s Nashville, MLB Network’s World Series 2013 show Path to the Championship, an HBO fight promo, plus the independent film Zero to 100.
Not Too Late

And go dance outside in the pouring rain
We lived like we would never wake up
From a dream that we shared, just the two of us
But now we're tied up, bad luck
Never gonna make our minds up
Worn out and restless
We could escape
We could escape
And I'd give anything to hear you tell me
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late
And I'd give anything to hear you tell me
It's not too late
Always said that we would make the most
Of what we had and keep it close
Summers come and summers go
The years fly by but the days go so slow, yeah
Dreaming, scheming
Always believing
So right now this is my wish
That we could escape
And I'd give anything to hear you tell me
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late
And I'd give anything to hear you tell me
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late
Ten years go by and everything's changed
Oh, we're different people but we got the same names
So you call it out just like you did
All the time ago when we were just kids singing
Oh (We could escape)
Oh (We could escape)
Oh, and I'd give anything to hear you tell me
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late
And I'd give anything to hear you tell me
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late (oh whoa)
It's not too late
And I'd give anything to hear you tell me
The lyrics to Moon Taxi's song "Not Too Late" reminisce on a past where the singer and someone had carefree times, singing and dancing in the rain while dreaming of a future full of possibilities. However, time has passed and their present circumstances are now weighed down by indecision, bad luck, and restlessness. The singer expresses a yearning to escape their current struggles and return to the joy of the past. The phrase "It's not too late" serves as a repeating refrain, conveying a message of hope and a desire for a second chance.
The lyrics invoke a bittersweet feeling of nostalgia and longing for a younger, more carefree time. The verses juxtapose fond memories of the past with a sobering present reality, highlighting the contrast between the promises of youth and the challenges of adulthood. The chorus serves as a call to action, expressing the desire for change and a willingness to seize an opportunity for redemption and renewal. Overall, the song speaks to the universality of human hopes and dreams, and the enduring power of hope in the face of adversity.
