Ma и come non pensare all'elefante
Chissа se non si и fatto giа
Balliamo balliamo, facciamo anelli
Parliamoci pure nell'orecchio
Veniamo veniamoci incontro
Gira gira giriamoci incontro
Scambiamoci pure I foglietti
Passiamo il globo di mano in mano
Saltiamo saltiamo su un piede solo
E magicamente entriamo in loop
Anche nella migliore delle cerimonie
E' indispensabile appartarsi
Oppure, al limite, coinvolgere qualcuno
Nel progettare un tentativo di fuga
Che cosa si farа per uscire di qua d'adeguato
Alla nostra etа?
Balliamo balliamo gli strani anelli
Guardiamo guardiamo gli sconosciuti
Scappiamo scendiamo I livelli
E svegliamoci nella piscina
Viaggiamo viaggiamo nel sottoscala
Andiamo nel mio appartamento
Ricaviamoci qualche soddisfazione
E liberamente facciamo: confusione!
Heaven in my cocktail, tears in her eyes
Heaven in my cocktail, tears in her eyes
Love is a burning flame
Burning upside down
The Italian title and opening lines to Morgan's song "Heaven In My Cocktail" establish a theme of being in a state of intoxification or altered consciousness due to the use of substances: "Advanced drinks abandoned / Are the strongest substance there is". The following lines mention a psychedelic trip (*acid trip*), with Paul saying that "the levels are seven". The lyrics then seem to evoke a sense of confusion and ambivalence about colonialism, with the singer expressing gratitude towards the British (possibly because of its cultural influence on Morgan, who was raised in Rome and attended a British school), but also thinking of the negative consequences of colonialism, such as the exploitation of resources (mentioning the elephant). The song then describes a series of actions that suggest a playful, almost childlike spirit of escapism, such as dancing, passing around a globe or paper notes, and jumping on one foot.
The lyrics to "Heaven In My Cocktail" invite multiple interpretations: On the one hand, they convey a sense of longing for a state of liberation from social norms and hierarchies. On the other hand, they suggest a certain skepticism towards the effectiveness and morality of escape strategies, especially when it comes to coping with complex social phenomena such as colonialism. Finally, the chorus of the song, which repeats the phrase "Heaven in my cocktail, tears in her eyes / Love is a burning flame / Burning upside down", seems to hint at a sense of melancholy or regret, as if the playful escapism was only a temporary fix for a deeper feeling of loss or disconnection.
