En Mork Horisont
Mortiis Lyrics

English translate: Reflections Of Horizont's Dark

In all the candles that I burn,
I see the formations of horizons dark.
And in my mind hear voices cry, so sad.
Behind the forests (what do they hide?).
In my nightmares I can see what they hide.
So evil, this place feels familiar in some way.
It feels right.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Mortiis's song "En Mork Horisont" reflect a dark and somber mood. The lead vocalist sings about seeing the formations of horizons dark in all the candles they burn, which represents a sense of foreboding and melancholy. The candle symbolizes a tiny light source that barely illuminates anything, and its flickering flame only adds to the overall sense of unease. The lyrics also describe the haunting voices that the singer hears in their mind, with a tone that is full of sorrow and despair. The words beg the question: what horrors are waiting for them beyond the forests?

The singer's dreams then come into play, where they see the evil hidden behind the veil of the forests. This setting is familiar to the singer, which hints at the possibility of their past experiences in this place. The final sentence "It feels right" evokes a feeling of acceptance of the evil that lurks within this place, rather than fear of it. Overall, the lyrics of Mortiis's "En Mork Horisont" showcase a dark and sinister story that leaves the listener with an unforgettable impression.

Deep Root

I see over there dark woods.
And I hear sad voices cry.
I see the future's black shadows,
Dance before my eyes.
I hear the emptiness in the wolfs hunting howl.
And feel myself drawned - to the unknown
Up there
I see a sad world.
I see a dark horizon.

Mortiis used to be so awesome. I remember listening to this stuff when I was about 13 and it was the most mysterious otherwordly thing. It's a shame I never got to see any era 1 stuff played live, too young for that, I just got The Smell of Rain tours. I never really liked any of the albums after that so much.

Iskalla I met him in 1998 and tell you he was a very cool person, dont look at all as on the pictures with his long nose and ears. It was already not more the early days but still memorable. Now its sucks totaly, I m very disapointed, but anyway. the old stuff is.... the spirit of black metal then...

Teemu Jaakkola

You're now in luck, since he's performing exactly this album live now days... ;)

Fernald Paperguest

This stuff was never meant to be played live. I have just attended his era 1 live show and it's only a small glimpse of the greatness what you feel while listening to the impeccable studio recording, sitting in your dark room at lonely and cold november night. But I showed up anyway to support the guy, who I've been appreciating for 16 years.
