Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
Muse Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Good times for a change
See, the luck I've had
Can make a good man turn bad

So please, please, please
Let me, let me, let me
Let me get what I want this time
Haven't had a dream in a long time
See, the life I've had

Can make a good man bad
So for once in my life
Let me get what I want

Lord knows, it would be the first time
Lord knows, it would be the first time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Muse's song "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" portray a sense of desperation and longing for something that the singer has been denied for a long time. The title is a plea towards a higher power, asking for this one chance to finally achieve their desire. The opening line, "Good times for a change," implies that the singer has experienced a lot of hardship and misfortune. They then go on to express the idea that the luck they've had in life has made them turn bad, emphasizing the adversities they've faced.

The singer then says "Haven't had a dream in a long time," indicating that they've been unable to pursue or achieve their aspirations due to their struggles. This has led them to become disheartened, and the life they've had continues to weigh them down. They acknowledge that "for once in my life, let me get what I want," and that it would be the first time they've been granted their desires. This puts into perspective how long they've been struggling, and how important this one opportunity is for them.

Overall, the song is a poignant reflection of the challenges and struggles that individuals may face in their pursuit of happiness and personal fulfillment. It emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and addressing one's hardships, and the value of hope and persistence in overcoming them.

I used to be obsessed with muse before I fell in love with the smiths,gotta say it’s pretty good,nothing compared to the original but pretty good

@PigeonBoy435

I love both Muse and the Smiths, and this is great. I don't see why it's so bad?? It is creative because although the original is very beautiful and acoustic this is heavy and rock, but a bit sad too

Oh my god. I can't believe this is by Muse. I used to listen to the Not Another Teen Movie Soundtrack replaying this song endlessly around 2002. Ten years later, Muse become one of my favorite bands.

@ArtuurFrituur

This is not a cover, but rather a tribute! Two fabulous bands, but nothing beats the Smiths (not even the Beatles)
