Sing for Absolution
Muse Lyrics

A kiss that can't renew
I only dream of you
My beautiful
Tiptoe to your room
A starlight in the gloom
I only dream of you
Sing for absolution
I will be singing
Falling from your grace
There's nowhere left to hide
In no one to confide
The truth runs deep inside
And will never die
Lips are turning blue
A kiss that can't renew
I only dream of you
My beautiful
Sing for absolution
I will be singing
Falling from your grace
Sing for absolution
I will be singing
Falling from your grace
Our wrongs remain unrectified
And our souls won't be exhumed
The lyrics to Muse's song "Sing for Absolution" speak to the desperation of a love that is fading away. The imagery of lips turning blue and a kiss that can't renew paints a picture of a relationship that is dying, and the singer can only dream of their beloved. The verse then goes on to speak of the singer tiptoeing to their lover's room, the only comfort they can find in the starlight of the gloom.
As the chorus kicks in, the singer pleads to "Sing for absolution." The act of singing represents the hope for redemption, the chance to turn back time and make things right again. The singer is falling from grace, and the only way to save themselves is to sing for forgiveness.
The second verse goes even deeper into the emotional turmoil, with the singer feeling alone and with nowhere left to hide. They have no one to confide in and are forced to confront the truth that runs deep inside them. The final chorus repeats the plea to "Sing for absolution," and the final lines imply that the situation is past the point of salvation. Their wrongs remain unrectified, and their souls won't be exhumed, indicating that there is no chance of redemption for this lost love.
Overall, the lyrics to "Sing for Absolution" are a powerful expression of the pain and desperation that comes with the end of a relationship. The imagery of lips turning blue and a kiss that can't renew perfectly captures the sense of loss and finality, while the chorus's insistence on singing for absolution provides a glimmer of hope in an otherwise bleak situation.

The first time I listened carefully to the lyrics, I felt something like
a deja-vu. Some time passed and, as I was preparing for a romanian
literature exam, I came upon an old poem written by Mihai Eminescu:
Evening Star (you can find it's english translation on the web, I
recommend the one made by Petre Grimm). And then it clicked. It is a
poem that I read as a child, without understanding the subtle symbolism.
The Evening Star falls from the sky and tip-toes in the room of the
loved one, but the woman, even if she asked for him in her dreams, is
afraid of him because he looks either like a dead angel or a fiery
demon. As she falls in love with another earthling, The Evening Star
realises that he can't fall from his grace for a fickle human. At some
point she remembers him, chants for him again, but The Evening Star's
absolution doesn't fall upon her again...

This song has one of the best breakdowns in all Muse history in my opinion. Especially when you can hear the long guitar notes overlaid with their harmonic series and the chromatic shift at the end
@ferise1
Haha loser
@snjezni.vuk.
@@ferise1 says the one who's only response to others is 'haha loser' you're the real loser here, get a life
@BridgesProductions2024
Just looked that up, and "chromatic shift" doesn't look like a music thing. It's apparently also known as "chromatic aberration". In other words, you posted word salad to seem like you know what you're on about.
