Black Holes and Revelations (2006) incorporated electronic and pop elements, displayed in singles such as "Supermassive Black Hole", and brought Muse wider international success. The Resistance (2009) and The 2nd Law (2012) explored themes of government oppression and civil uprising and cemented Muse as one of the world's major stadium acts. Rolling Stone stated the band possessed "stadium-crushing songs". Topping the US Billboard 200, their seventh album, Drones (2015), was a concept album about drone warfare and returned to a harder rock sound. Their eighth album, Simulation Theory (2018), prominently featured synthesisers and was influenced by science fiction and the simulation hypothesis. Their ninth album, Will of the People (2022), which combined many genres and themes from their previous albums, was released in August 2022.
Muse have won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards and eight NME Awards. In 2012 they received the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. As of June 2016, they have sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

Muse Lyrics

Stop your screaming, no one can hear
All the scars on your skin post no bills
Who you were
Was so beautiful
Remember who, who you where
Hide from your family, they won't know you now
For all the holes in our soul host no thrills
Who you were
Was so beautiful
Memories who, who you where
The lyrics to Muse's "Screenager" are open to interpretation, but they seem to address the pressure to conform to societal expectations, the deep-seated insecurities and self-consciousness that come with it, and the desire to escape from it all. The first stanza suggests that there are people who are fake and insincere yet always surrounded by others, perhaps indicating that the singer feels alone and unable to connect with others on a real level. The line "Stop your screaming, no one can hear" suggests that the singer feels unheard and ignored, as if their pain is invisible to the world around them. The line "All the scars on your skin post no bills" could refer to the emotional scars that the singer carries, which are not visible to others and therefore not acknowledged or validated.
The second stanza suggests that the singer is trying to hold onto a sense of self amid the pressure to conform. They urge themselves to remember who they used to be and to resist the urge to hide from their own reflection and memories. The line "For all the holes in our soul host no thrills" could mean that despite trying to fit in and be accepted by others, it ultimately leaves one feeling empty and unfulfilled. The repetition of the line "Who you were was so beautiful, memories who, who you were" throughout the song could be a reminder to the singer to embrace their authentic self and not lose sight of who they truly are.

Lmfao I imagine the recording of this song went like this.
Matt: You know what would sound amazing in the intro of a song?
Dom & Chris: What?
Matt: A freaking wind chime that is back masked.
Dom & Chris: What? Seriously?
Matt: And freakin bongo drums
Dom & Chris: You've lost it.
But it does work and thats all that counts.

"Screenager is a modern teenager being brought up by the screen who develops a distorted image of their body because of pictures in magazines and because technology is rejecting the physical bodies we live in. It's also a bit about people who cut themselves because I used to have friends who did it and I didn't know why. I tried to grasp that it's needing something quite brutal to remind you what your body's about" - Matt (MuseWiki)

Yeah... then when you realize later that you damaged yourself and all your problems havent gone away you dont understand anything and you become lost... Hurting yourself only causes more problems, it isnt a exit my friends have done it before and I've really helped them through it. But after they stopped talking to me they started again, it's really sad to me. I hate it when I see marks like that. I try to stop it from happening...
