When Stephens received several requests for The New Vaudeville Band to tour he had to put together a group, since the song was recorded by studio musicians hired only for the recording session. He contacted a real group, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, which played similar music at the time. Only Bob Kerr from that group was interested, so he left The Bonzos to help Stephens form a touring version of The New Vaudeville Band. The lead singer of the touring version of the group was Alan Klein, who was billed as 'Tristram—Seventh Earl Of Cricklewood'. The group enjoyed success for two years until the novelty wore off. Kerr then formed his own group, Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band, which continues to perform.
In 1967, The New Vaudeville Band released the Finchley Central LP.

She's nobody's turtle dove
No one cares, no one cries,
No one listens to her sighs
The way she looks, it's so bad
The laughing policeman he's so sad
Sadie Moonshine's got no love,
Sob sob boo hoo hoo ah
Sadie Moonshine's feeling glum
She's nobody's special chum
No one to squeeze and hold her tight
No one to keep her warm at night
Give her diamonds in a silver?
But even this won't cheer her up
For Sadie Moonshine's got no love,
Sob sob boo hoo hoo ah
Mona Lisa's got her geezer
Queenie's got her duke
Romeo, he had his Juliet
Jeff Arnold's got Luke
But Sadie Moonshine's got no love
She's nobody's turtle dove
No one cares, no one cries,
No one listens to her sighs
The way she looks, why, it's so bad
The laughing policeman, he's so sad
Sadie Moonshine's got no love,
Sob sob boo hoo hoo ah
The New Vaudeville Band’s “Sadie Moonshine” is a melancholic and bittersweet song about a woman named Sadie who feels alone and unloved. The lyrics paint a picture of a woman who has been abandoned and forgotten by those around her, and who is desperately seeking someone to love and care for her. The first verse describes Sadie’s situation, saying that she has “no love” and that “no one cares, no one cries, no one listens to her sighs.” The second verse continues in a similar vein, emphasizing Sadie’s loneliness and her longing for someone to hold her tight and keep her warm at night.
The chorus features a repetition of the phrase “Sadie Moonshine’s got no love,” which is accompanied by the sounds of her crying – “Sob sob boo hoo hoo ah.” The lyrics also contrast Sadie’s situation with that of other famous romantic pairs, such as “Mona Lisa’s got her geezer” and “Romeo, he had his Juliet.” These lines serve to emphasize Sadie’s isolation and lack of companionship, and to highlight the fact that she has no one to turn to for comfort or support. The final verse restates Sadie’s predicament one last time, with particular emphasis on how she looks and how this has affected those around her.
Overall, “Sadie Moonshine” is a poignant and insightful portrait of a woman who feels cut off from the world and all its pleasures. Through its vivid imagery and use of repetition, the song leaves a powerful impression of Sadie’s isolation and her longing for someone to love and accept her.
