Together with the band Nazar, she represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978, where she shared 18th place with Seija Simola from Finland. Since 1997 she has been Turkey's National Ambassador to UNICEF.
In 1998 she was awarded the honorary title of State Artist of Turkey.

Şarkı ünlü "newer newer newer" şarkısı. Nilüferin o yıllarda söylediklerinin çoğu yabancı şarkılar idi. Bu batı kulağı melodisidir. Bizimkiler böyle besteler yapamıyorlar ve şimdi bize özgü olsun diye, fantazi bilmem ne, iyice bozdular.
Nilüferin şimdiki tarzını da hiç tutmuyorum. Sesini öldüren şarkılar yapıyor.

@Egegiler batıda da artık böyle şarkılar yapılmıyor, tüm dünyada sorun bu duygu yok artık şarkılarda. .Nilüferin sesine gelirsek gençliğindeki sesi gibi değil sesi belki de astım hastası olması yüzünden bilemiyorum
