calling
Nixon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here we are again beneath these stars
All the same not changing who we are
We must have walked these roads a thousand times
But never stopped to notice what we're missing
What you're missing

The old man bends to plant another seed
For now, for when, for greener memories
We must have walked these roads a thousand times
Never stops to notice what he's missing

Calling yesterday
Come and save us with tomorrow
And I'll say calling yesterday
Come and save us if you can

Trees of steel are rising through these minds
Choose what you see and never look behind
We must have walked these roads a thousand times
But never stopped to notice what we're missing

Calling yesterday
Come and save us with tomorrow
And I'll say calling yesterday
Come and save us if you can
Show me to the end
If you can, show me that again

Here we are again beneath these stars

Calling yesterday
Come and save us with tomorrow

And I'll say calling yesterday
Come and save us if you can

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Nixon's song "Calling" feature a contemplative and introspective tone which highlights the human tendency to get lost in the present moment and overlook the beauty and wonder of life. The opening two lines bring attention to the fact that we often find ourselves in similar situations and patterns, repeating the same actions and failing to recognize the unique qualities and essence of each moment. The phrase "All the same not changing who we are" implies a certain level of acceptance and resignation, suggesting that despite the predictable nature of life, we are still held accountable for making the most of it.

The second verse of the song shifts focus to the connection between past and present, with a reference to an old man planting a seed for the future. The line "For now, for when, for greener memories" suggests a sense of hope and optimism, and a recognition that our actions in the present can have an impact on the future. Despite this, we often fail to recognize the significance of our actions and the opportunities we have to make a difference.

The chorus features the repetition of the phrase "calling yesterday, come and save us with tomorrow," which suggests a desire to return to a simpler time and find meaning in the future. The final lines of the song return to the opening verse, highlighting the cyclical nature of life and the importance of taking time to appreciate the beauty of each moment.

I was in the Air Force and trained in communications, I understand the technology behind our best Transmission and Receiving equipment on this earth. America and Israel had the top technology in the 1960's, and NOTHING was close to pull off what NASA claims they did. We don't have the ability today either.
Don't we all loose cell connection while driving at times?...and our cell phones BLOW AWAY the technology from the 1960's!
That whole phone call, Nixon to Apollo, via satellite, Australia bounce to the Moon ever happen? In the 1960's we still had 'party-lines' and ALL phone calls went through 'LANDLINES' meaning wires hooked to telephone poles, how did this phone call make it to Australia, under water lines?...It is like a Dr. Sues novel, at best. FICTION.
Yes, a Hollywood production.
They practiced in a HUGE underwater tank, still present and used today. If they are careful to hide the AIR BUBBLES they get suckers to believe it!
I WAS a big believer in NASA, until I dug deeper....then I was angry and embarrassed for the idiots that work for our Government.
Also, no stars in the background picture of the earth???...should be loaded with stars!
I could go on and on, what a terrible joke on mankind.
Do your own research.....Look up what NASA means in Hebrew :)

Wow, another fake testimonial from a conspiracy theorist or troll with a puppet account.

Obviously he never heard of Telstar, commercial communications satellites launched in the early 60s.

For some time we've had satellite phones that work far out as sea. Network TV uses satellite uplinks for live reports from remote locations and downlinks to affiliates. And I guess the Air Force didn't tell you that NORAD uses satellites to monitor rocket launches.

Yes, on Earth astronauts practice underwater to simulate weightlessness. But you can see the "underwater" ISS passing overhead, even photograph its form with a telescope.

The Earth is much brighter than distant stars and requires a lower exposure. The stars are visible in ISS videos of the night side of Earth which used a higher exposure.

The phone call's landlines were connected to a network of radio transceivers.

What relevance is the definition of "nasa" in Hebrew? NASA is an English word, an acronym for National Aeronautics and Space Administration. FYI, In Hebrew the word pronounced as "nasa" means to bear or carry; that pronounced as "nasha" means to deceive. Research the word "superstition" in English.

I'm embarrassed that posts like this appear.
