Ever Fallen in Love
Nouvelle Vague Lyrics

It makes me feel like dirt and I'm hurt
If I start a commotion
I run the risk of losing you and that's worse
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
I can't see much of a future
Unless we find out what's to blame?
What a shame and we can't be together
Until we realize that we are the same
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
You shouldn't've fallen in love with
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
You shouldn't've fallen in love with
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
You shouldn't've fallen in love with
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
You shouldn't've fallen in love with
You spurn my natural emotions
It makes me feel like dirt and I'm hurt
If I start a commotion
I run the risk of losing you and that's worse
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
You shouldn't've fallen in love with
Ever fallen in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
Ever fallen in love, in love with someone
You shouldn't've fallen in love with
Nouvelle Vague's cover of the Buzzcocks' "Ever Fallen in Love" is a hauntingly beautiful rendition that quiets the frenzied energy of the original punk classic. The lyrics express the painful experience of loving someone who is not reciprocating those feelings, leaving the singer feeling insecure, vulnerable, and ashamed. The lines "You spurn my natural emotions, it makes me feel like dirt and I'm hurt" convey the heart-wrenching hurt that comes with unrequited love.
The song also touches on the fear of losing the person, which can lead to the singer suppressing their emotions and desires in order to maintain the relationship. The line "If I start a commotion, I run the risk of losing you and that's worse" shows that the singer is willing to ignore their own needs, even if it means feeling degraded and worthless, just to keep their love interest close.
As a whole, "Ever Fallen in Love" is a powerful reflection of the intense emotions and vulnerabilities that arise in relationships. The song speaks to a universal experience, one that is both beautiful and suffocating, and it captures the complexity of loving someone who may not love you back.

I did back then 10 years ago. I was guided by the platonic emotions and thoughts that she cared for me as much as I did of her. My worst mistake ever as she was manipulating several guys into a web of lies and when I figured out what she was doing she told the other guys that I was a villain or what not. Any case turns out the other dudes got played as well. But since I broke her ego mirror, she then hated me and probably will forever, because those kind of people only love themselves. Even though I had a hard time stopping to love her as an image that I had in my mind. Ultimately we were not meant to be for each other and this was probably for the best as those kind of fake relationships, love you, love you not are destructive. This song reminds me of her. Even though we met different people and ultimately life took us on different paths. My morale of the story was to always cherish the time you felt those feelings and to not regret having had them. No matter what kind of person she was, she meant the world to me then but probably would have been better as friend than something more.

Heard this in a skate tape a long time ago and Youtube just loves deleting my sacred selections from my playlists. Lucky thing my memory strikes like lighting and had to re-add this again!
