Final View
Nujabes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

"I have traveled through an eternity, spending only seconds in pure consciousness
Yet the tears still drown my laughter
To me the sweetest the man in the world, is a note Miles Davis Blues
Is a poem by Imamu, is the song that some unknown brother gently sang outside my window"

Overall Meaning

In Nujabes's song "Final View," the lyrics highlight a deep sense of introspection and reflection. The opening line suggests that the singer has had profound experiences and insights, having traveled through an eternity but only spending mere seconds in a state of pure consciousness. Despite these experiences, there is still a sorrowful undertone as the tears drown out the singer's laughter. This could imply a sense of longing or existential sadness that lingers even amidst profound understanding.

The following lines shift the focus to the singer's perception of beauty and greatness. They express that the sweetness of the greatest person in the world to them resides in the notes played by jazz musician Miles Davis, particularly his bluesy compositions. Additionally, the singer identifies the beauty in a poem by Imamu, capturing the power of words and the expression of emotions. Lastly, the song speaks to the impact of an unknown individual softly singing outside the singer's window, recognizing the power of a simple gesture that can evoke emotions and resonate deeply.

In summary, "Final View" explores themes of introspection, the bittersweet nature of existence, and the beauty found in art and human connection.

I was choosing a random movie to watch on TV at my girlfriends house, until we find Spartacus (1960).
While watching, that instrument that sounds like a clarinet starts to play and i feel the sinapses of my brain twitch.
The feeling "i know this" hit so strong, that when i got home i just keep searching nujabes songs until i find this one.
Satisfaction.

@charlieg2262

Yeah Nujabes sampled Yusef Lateef’s Love Theme from Spartacus - I just discovered this song from that!

Original “sample” of counting stars is also George benson “affirmation”. So many people praise nujabes (he’s amazing) but they completely ignore the artists he directly referenced from and the fact that these songs they love so much were originally written by African American musicians, or at least were written by others that were inspired by musical genres that were invented by african American Americans
