Read Full Bio ↴OOMPH! is an industrial rock band from the neue deutsche härte scene.
OOMPH! consists of:
Robert Flux (guitar, mixing)
Andreas Crap (lead guitar, keyboards)
Leo (live drums)
Hagen (live bass)
Der Schulz (lead vocalist)
The band was formed in 1989 in Wolfsburg, Germany. They are one of the founders of the fusion of hard metal music and industrial sounds known as Neue Deutsche Härte.
OOMPH! owed a lot to Nitzer Ebb in their self-titled debut (1992). OOMPH!'s change of style for the successor "Sperm" (1994), with a more guitar-driven metal sound mixed with their electronic roots, inspired numerous musicians, most famously Rammstein, to follow their lead. (Rammstein have cited OOMPH! in several interviews as their main inspiration.)
OOMPH! released their first album on Jor's Machinery label, then releasing their consecutive albums on its sister-label Dynamica. They stayed with Jor, until his labels disappeared during the acquisition by Sanctuary Records at around 1996/1997.
Following Dynamica OOMPH! finally signed with Virgin Schallplatten. With the benefits of major-label status OOMPH! gained a larger following, and toured with labelmates Skunk Anansie in 1999. Between 1998 and 2001 they released three albums on the Virgin label, fulfilling their contract, but did not continue, feeling that the record company never fully explored their potential.
In 2004 OOMPH! released their first single "Augen auf!" on a new label, this time on Supersonic Records, part of the Sony BMG group of music companies. It marks their first Number One hit ever in Germany, thus eventually bringing forth their major commercial breakthrough. It became part of the FIFA 2005 soundtrack.
The band's ninth record, GlaubeLiebeTod was released in March 2006, including the controversial single "Gott ist ein Popstar" and its follow-up "Das letzte Streichholz", the third single was Die Schlinge.
In 2007, they won the third Bundesvision Song Contest (a contest between the sixteen states of Germany) for Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) with "Träumst du?", which featured Marta Jandová from Die Happy.
While OOMPH! are not widely known within the United States, the band did perform at a New York festival in 1993. In Europe they have performed at M'era Luna, Ozzfest, Dynamo Open Air and Wacken Open Air.

Zu geil um klar zu denken
Du bist so jung
Zu geil um klar zu sehn
Was du nicht weißt
Das macht Dich heiß
Der Tod schwingt mit
Der Tod fließt mit
In Deinem Blut
Der Tod schwingt mit
Du bist so frei
Verdammt Dich zu entscheiden
Du bist so frei
Doch Du willst nicht verstehn
Was Du nicht weißt
Das macht Dich heiß
Der Tod schwingt mit
In Deinen Hüften
Der Tod fließt mit
In Deinem Blut
Der Tod schwingt mit
In Deinen Hüften
Der Tod fließt mit
In Deinem Blut
Der Tod schwingt mit
Du bist zu jung
Dein Leben zu verschenken
Was Du nicht weißt
Hat einen hohen Preis
Der Tod schwingt mit
In Deinen Hüften
Der Tod fließt mit
In Deinem Blut
Der Tod schwingt mit
In Deinen Hüften
Der Tod fließt mit
In Deinem Blut
Der Tod schwingt mit
Der Tod fließt mit
Der Tod schwingt mit
The lyrics to Oomph!'s song In deinen Hüften express the idea that youth and excitement can blind a person to the potential consequences of their actions. The repetition of the phrase "Du bist so jung, zu geil um klar zu denken" ("You are so young, too horny to think clearly") emphasizes this point, with the singer suggesting that the subject's lack of foresight is what makes them attractive. The lines "Der Tod schwingt mit in deinen Hüften" ("Death swings in your hips") and "der Tod fließt mit in deinem Blut" ("Death flows in your blood") suggest that this recklessness comes with a danger, that death lurks in these actions. However, the subject is too caught up in the moment to acknowledge the potential harm.
The second verse highlights the subject's freedom to make choices but implies that they are refusing to see the consequences of their actions. The singer warns that what the subject doesn't know is what makes them attractive and that this lack of knowledge is leading them towards the influence of death. The final verse again reminds the subject of their youth and asserts that they should not waste their life by being reckless. The overall message is that it's essential to take a step back and consider the potential outcomes of one's actions before fully engaging in them.

Well, when it comes to medical it's quite like this song, a brutal tango where one wrong move can cause a genocide

I love this song. I don't know why they didn't make this into a music video, instead of Auf Kors, it would have been so hot to see Dero do the tango.

Amo esta canción! Mi interpretación es que habla sobre el SIDA, y la vez puede llegar a dar un mensaje. Cada uno interpreta lo que entinde. Son un grupo musical excelente
