En los primeros meses de 1980 dos jóvenes madrileños, Juan Luis Serrano y Francisco Laguna, bajista y guitarrista, que ya coincidieron en otras formaciones como Red Box y Madrid 20, deciden formar OBÚS, sin saber aún que iban a revolucionar todo el panorama musical de la década. Para completar el grupo deciden llamar al batería Manolo Caño (Mazo), a partir de ahí OBUS en el Preparate comienzan a componer las canciones del que sería su primer vinilo. Así continuaron hasta abril de 1981, mes en el que Manolo Caño es sustituido por Fernando Sánchez al mismo tiempo que se incorpora Fortu Sánchez como vocalista. Hasta ese momento los encargados de ponerle voz a las canciones eran Juan Luis y Paco (¿os lo imagináis?), bien pues ya tenemos a OBÚS al completo y listos para hacer Historia, la cual comienza de forma fulminante en la plaza de toros de Las Ventas, ganando la Tercera Edición del Villa de Madrid. Esto les sirvió para firmar su primer contrato discográfico con Chapa Discos.
En Julio de 1981 entran en el estudio y comienzan a grabar su primer álbum, "Prepárate", producido por Tino Casal y Luis Soler, contando con la colaboración de Luis Cobos.
Nada más ver la luz el "Prepárate" catapulta al grupo a la fama, llegando al número uno de los 40 principales, algo impensable hasta esos momentos para una banda de heavy metal.
OBUS foto promo Sorprendieron a todo el mundo con su potente música y su dura imagen, adornada con cuero negro y tachuelas por todos lados, sentando las bases de lo que sería el sonido y la estética del rock duro en los años posteriores. Al poco tiempo triunfan en su propio barrio, Vallekas, en una gran actuación ante miles de personas en el campo de fútbol del Rayo Vallecano, las cuales se rinden ante el poderío y la contundencia de la banda en directo y demostrando que serían la mejor banda de directo de aquí en adelante.
6 de noviembre de 1981, OBÚS se embarca en una aventura de la que muchos dijeron que estaba destinada al fracaso, presentar su primer disco en el Pabellón de Deportes del Real Madrid, sin embargo consiguieron otro hecho histórico, con un lleno a reventar y confirmándose como unos de los grandes del heavy español, consagrándose canciones como "Va a estallar el Obús", "Sólo lo hago en mi moto" o "Pesadilla nuclear" como himnos dentro de la escena del rock español.
Pronto comienzan a salir galas y no paran de girar presentando el LP por toda España, llenando allí donde tocasen, como fue el caso también en su presentación en Barcelona, en el Pabellón del Barça.
Todos los medios se hacen eco de la ascensión meteórica de OBÚS hacia la fama, apareciendo en todos los medios de comunicación (prensa, radio, TV...).
OBUS en el estudio con Tino Foto de promo de Poderoso como el Trueno En 1982 sacan su segundo álbum, "Poderoso como el Trueno", siguiendo la buena línea del primero, con temas tan representativos como "Dinero, dinero", "Dame Amor", o el mismo "Poderoso como el Trueno". En este disco volvieron a contar con la ayuda de su buen amigo Tino Casal, junto con la de Luis Soler. Regresan al Pabellón de Deportes del Real Madrid para presentar el disco ante todos sus seguidores.
OBUS en pleno directo En 1984 les llega el momento de la consagración como banda indiscutible de primer nivel con el lanzamiento de su impresionante disco "El Que Más", el tercero de su carrera, este álbum fue grabado en los Mediterráneo Studios de Ibiza, con la ayuda del ingeniero de Judas Priest, Mark Dodson, con el que consiguieron un sonido que por aquel entoces sólo estaba al alcance de bandas de talla internacional, además Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) escribió una canción para el disco titulada "Alguien", y junto con este tema todo un disco repleto de canciones brillantes como "Vamos muy bien", "Autopista", "El qué más", "Viviré", "Juego Sucio"...
OBÚS es ya conocido por todo el mundo, y también entran con fuerza en Sudamérica. En ese mismo año viajan a Venezuela ofreciendo dos actuaciones en el famoso Poliedro de Caracas.
OBUS foto promo OBUS foto promo En 1985 vuelven al estudio para grabar su cuarto álbum, "Pega con fuerza", de nuevo en los Mediterráneo Studios, con temas como "Te visitará la muerte".
Durante todo este tiempo el grupo no deja de actuar y de cosechar éxitos y en 1986 llega el quinto disco, "Dejarse la piel", un álbum que se sale un poco de la linea de los anteriores pero que refleja su madurez como músicos y que incorpora una novedad hasta entoces desconocida en el repertorio de la banda, su magnífica balada "Complaciente o cruel" y temas como "Necesito más", "Crisis", "Mentiroso", "Rómpelo", etc.
Grabacion directo Grabacion directo En 1987 tienen suficientes canciones como para decidirse a grabar un doble disco en directo, "En directo 21-2-87", demostrando a todo el mundo que su directo y puesta en escena es lo mejor del momento, ofreciendo un concierto memorable y volviendo a llenar el Pabellón del Real Madrid (por si alguién tenía dudas).
A finales de los 80 el bajón del heavy a nivel mundial es evidente, abandonan Zafiro, que prefiere apoyar a otro tipo de grupos y fichan por Avispa. El panorama para el heavy es desolador y es ya un hecho que pasa por momentos de crisis, por este motivo, y aunque vuelven a Sudamérica a dar una serie de conciertos en México, OBÚS decide aparcar el grupo, y cada uno de sus miembros se dedica a diferentes proyectos musicales.
Hasta este punto de su trayectoria, OBÚS cuenta con muchos momentos históricos, premios y varios discos de oro, sin mencionar que la historia del heavy metal español no podría entenderse sin citar a OBÚS.
Desde el fondo del Abismo.Foto promo. Sin embargo, el grupo no estaba disuelto, sólo aparcado momentáneamente, y en 1996 regresan a los escenarios. Poco a poco vuelve a surgir interés por este género y en absoluto silencio comienzan a componer nuevos temas, que se ven reflejados en su regreso discográfico en Octubre del 2000, callando las bocas de los más escépticos, con su impresionante "Desde el fondo del abismo", un compacto lleno de fuerza y rabia, con unas canciones que demuestran que se encuentran en plena forma, sabiendo que la veteranía es un punto a su favor, con canciones como "Que te jodan", "Cautivos", "Esta vida", "Siento ganas", "Marilú". Todos y cada uno de los temas que forman el disco son excepcionales y estamos seguros que no dejarán insatisfechos a ninguno de nuestros fans.
