Loveless
Okay Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
"I need to sort out my head."
So we didn't, we just talked instead
But my blood, it still has to be red
It's still gonna go wherever it be led
Now I can't get you out of my head.
And last night I heard you kiss a little drummer girl that you missed
You don't know nothing about her lips, why would you want to go on loveless?
The lyrics of Okay's song Loveless tell a story about the aftermath of a breakup, where the singer's ex-partner comes back to his place to sort out their head. Moreover, the singer's blood still runs red, symbolizing that he is still emotional and invested in the relationship, despite the breakup. The singer can't stop thinking about their ex-partner, who, just the night before, kissed a drummer girl. The line "You don't know nothing about her lips, why would you want to go on loveless?" suggests that the singer thinks their ex-partner is making a mistake by jumping into a loveless relationship.
The lyrics convey the conflicting emotions of heartbreak, confusion, and jealousy. The singer is trying to move on but can't seem to shake off the memories and emotions attached to their ex-partner. Though the song's tone is melancholic, it presents the idea that sometimes, it is better to be loveless than to be in a loveless relationship. The drummer girl is an example of someone who may offer temporary comfort, but ultimately, the singer believes it's not worth it if the relationship is loveless.
In conclusion, Loveless by Okay is a song about the aftermath of a breakup, where the singer is trying to move on but is still emotionally attached to their ex-partner. The song presents the idea that being loveless is better than being in a loveless relationship and conveys the conflicting emotions of heartbreak, confusion, and jealousy.
