Who guards the truth
Oh lord most high
A frightened dove in a starless sky, oh-oh, oh oh oh
So high, most high, so high

Who hides the east from the blind man's eye
In the land of peace
Where the righteous cry, oh-oh, oh oh oh
So high, most high, so high

[Chorus:]
Where are the words of the king
Who moves the stars and then the sun
To the light where my spirit was born
Bring this wanderer home

While mercy sleeps in the hearts of liars
And the olive tree is consumed by fire, oh-oh, oh oh oh
So high, most high, so high

[Chorus]
Where are the words of the king
Who moves the stars and then the sun
To the light where my spirit was born
Bring this wanderer home, come on, come on, come on

When David's seed talks
Through his paper crown
And he spits hot steel
See all the kids fall down
Ohhh yeah, mmm
So high, most high, so high, Oh oh yeah

Oh oh
Come on, come on, come on [Repeat: x3]

Better hurry, hurry [Repeat: x2]

Most high, most high high high

Most high, so high, so high
So high

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Jimmy Page and Robert Plant's song "Most High" are filled with religious references and allusions to powerful leaders. The song seems to be asking who has the power to guard and control the truth, and who is responsible for hiding important information from those who need to know. The line "Who hides the east from the blind man's eye" could be interpreted as a reference to censorship or oppression, with certain people or groups deliberately withholding information from others.

The chorus of the song asks where the words of the king are, and who has the power to move the stars and the sun. It seems to be a plea for guidance and for someone to take control, to bring the wanderer home. The final verse of the song features a reference to David's seed and his paper crown, possibly alluding to the idea of a leader who may seem powerful but is ultimately vulnerable or transient. The line "And he spits hot steel / See all the kids fall down" could be interpreted as a warning about the dangers of following charismatic leaders who may use their power to harm others.

Overall, the lyrics to "Most High" are thought-provoking and open to interpretation, with references to religious and political themes.

Who guards the truth, oh Lord most high?
A frightened dove in the starless sky
Oh-oh - so high, most high, so high
Who hides the east from the blind man's eye?
In the land of peace where the righteous cry
Oh-oh - so high, most high, so high
Where are the words - of a king
Who moved the stars and the son
To the light when my spirit was born
Bring this wanderer home
While mercy sleeps in the hearts of liars
And the olive tree is consumed by fire
Oh-oh - so high, most high, so high
Put out the words - I'm the king
Who moved the star above the sun
To the light when the spirit was born
Bring this wanderer home
Come on, come on, come on
Now David seed talks through his paper crown
And he spits hot steel - see all the kids fall down
Oh-oh - so high, most high, oh-oh
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on --
Most high, most high
Most high, so high, so high

Thomas Gillespie

Who guards the truth, oh LORD MOST HIGH
It's written above in the star-lit sky
All of the constellations fly
So High- MOST HIGH- So High

Who hides the Beast from blind men's eyes
In the lands of peace where the parents cry,
"the price for freedom's far too high!"
So High- MOST HIGH- So High

Around the world, I'm a King who'll move the stars around the sun
unto the LIGHT where my spirit was born- bring this wonder home
While mercy sleeps in the Altar light
The Whore and Beast 's consumed by fire
and the flames leap into the sky
So High- MOST HIGH- So High

Around the world, I'm a King who'll move the stars around the sun
unto the LIGHT where our spirits were born- bring this wonder home
come on come on come home

HE gather's in the gems of HIS ETERNAL CROWN
Refuse to kneel, you'll be trampled down
Yeah, Tread beneath the foot
So High- MOST HIGH- So High

This is what happens when you get the greats together.

Wade Sickler

@Matthew Luera Yes, of course they did. But there was a big long break in there after Bonham's death. I was just pointing out that when they got back and played together it was magic.

Wade Sickler

@DoctorFurioso They each were doing their own thing, and probably just decided "let's do this." I'm sure it was Plant who was holding off on doing this and touring with it (doing Zeppelin songs).

DoctorFurioso

Why did no one think of getting them together before the 90s??

JammyTom

It's such a gift that they got back together

Dunbar

Bernie Lomax

To me this is a Led Zep song. Period. It kicks major ass.

John S Rous

Yep you can hear this tune on the Houses Of The Holy album. It would fit perfectly after The Rain Song.
