I don't know what to say
Everywhere I fall, don't know name or location
Baby, I'll just find my way
I'll find it
Years ago now, couldn't hold my eyes to the stars
Burdened by how they slept so far away
All the glitter is fire, burns the skin and leaves you with haste
Everything I do, I do in slow motion
I don't know what to say
Everywhere I fall, don't know name or location
Baby, I'll just find my way, I'll find it
Heavy is my sleeping, terror is my dreaming
While you are pretty through the night
You may taste the salt that rolls off my cheekbone
But you don't know why I cry
Over mulled wine, all the tact fell through the floor
Tripping over fine lines and you
If I stay here, I'll have some explaining for you
Sins are in mind where there's things that I ought to do
Everything I do, I do in slow motion
I don't know what to say
Everywhere I fall, don't know name or location
Baby, I'll just find my way, I'll find it
Heavy is my sleeping, terror is my dreaming
While you're pretty through the night
You may taste the salt that rolls off my cheekbone
But you don't know why I cry
In PHOX's song Slow Motion, the lyrics suggest a feeling of being lost and out of control. The singer admits to doing everything in slow motion which implies a lack of direction or motivation. They also express their inability to speak and an inability to remember places they have fallen to. The lyrics "Everywhere I fall, don't know name or location" could possibly suggest a mental health struggle like depression or anxiety. However, the singer seems determined to find their way, and the repetition of "I'll find it" in each chorus suggests that they still have hope despite their struggles.
The verse, "Years ago now, couldn't hold my eyes to the stars, Burdened by how they slept so far away" paints a picture of someone who has lost hope in the world, maybe because their dreams seem so far from their reach. However, they have now come to the realization that it's better to take things slowly and not rush through life. They describe how the glitter is fire and it burns, probably meaning that chasing an unrealistic or unsustainable lifestyle can harm them in the long run.
Overall, Slow Motion is a poignant and thought-provoking song that resonates with anyone who has struggled to find their way in life or cope with mental health issues.

This is the last song one of my best friends showed me before he took his own life. Every time I hear her voice it feels like he's still here. This will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️

From Middle school to high school, all of you were some of the sweetest people I had the honor to grow up with. Super cool seeing this video grow so much over the years since release. I came back to tell y’all I miss you and I heard it playing at Cheesecake Factory the other night while eating dinner and made me miss the days of when we were all young Baraboobians. All the best! Really wish you all would link back up and make another album or 10. What you all had together was extremely special!

Just came back from seeing their show at the 9:30 Club in DC a few hours ago (February 12, 2015). Seeing them live confirmed everything I could only initially glean from recordings and broadcasts: they are a group of fantastically talented musicians whose energy and passion really filled the space. Their recreation of the NPR Tiny Desk Concert was a real joy. Besides the clear musical talent among the band members, Monica's powerhouse vocals and genuinely sweet and funny banter with the audience gave a brief window into her writing process and really sealed the deal for me. Great live show. Hope to see you around DC again, Phox!
