We Remain As Two
Page France Lyrics

I saw a flower on the doorstep
Making love with the sun
And it turned into a garden
When they were done

So they'll construct themselves a home
All made of water, soil, and air
There the cycle has begun
Until the good starts making well with all the evil
We remain as two

She left a flower in my suitcase with a picture of us both
So I just cut it into halves
I set her half inside a heaven sort of place
And I just threw mine in the flames

And if they give to you your wings
Will you think
To give to me your arms
And if they let you keep your shell
Can I take and wear it as my guard
And wear it as my guard

I saw a flower on the doorstep
Making love with the sun
And it turned into a garden
When they were done

So now the sun goes out each night when all the flowers are fast asleep
Here the cycle has begun
Until the good starts making well with all the evil
We remain

A double-sided frame
Until the good starts making well with all the evil

We remain
A double-sided frame

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "We Remain As Two" by Page France are poetic and full of symbolism. The opening lines describe a flower making love with the sun, an image which represents the beauty and harmony of nature. When they are done, a garden is formed, signifying the creation of new life. The next lines talk about constructing a home made of water, soil, and air, which are elements that sustain life. These lines may also allude to the importance of the natural environment and the need to protect it.

The chorus of the song features the line "Until the good starts making well with all the evil, we remain as two," which is a profound statement about the duality of life. Good and evil are two opposing forces that coexist in the world, and they are both necessary for life to exist. The song suggests that we should strive to create a balance between the two, which is a theme that is common in many spiritual and philosophical teachings.

The rest of the verses describe a personal relationship between the singer and a lover. In one verse, the lover leaves a flower in the singer's suitcase with a picture of them both. The singer cuts the flower in half, puts one half in a "heaven sort of place," and throws the other half in the flames. These lines suggest that the relationship has ended and that the singer is trying to let go of the past.

Overall, "We Remain As Two" is a beautiful and thought-provoking song that explores some of the deepest aspects of human existence.

"Until the good starts making well with all the evil, we remain..."

I owe this album the great appreciation I have for music and especially the things deeper than what you just hear in music. First picked this album up when I was a freshman in highschool and still takes a listen all the way through before I can put it down.
