El Ausente
Pastor Lopez Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Todas las mañanas veo una ancianita
Muy desesperada preguntando por su hijo
Pero ella no sabe que fue reo Ausente
Se lo capturaron y lo condenaron

Oiga señor juez no pongo disculpas
No pido perdón pero le suplico
Que venga mi Madre yo quiero mirarla
Besar sus ojitos que tanto han llorado
Guardar en mi mente, su rostro bendito
Que yo he marchitado y sola he dejado

Es de noche y en su celda se oye un lamento

Oiga señor juez no pongo disculpas
No pido perdón pero le suplico
Que venga mi Madre yo quiero mirarla
Besar sus ojitos que tanto han llorado
Guardar en mi mente su rostro bendito
Que yo he marchitado y sola he dejado

Nadie está libre todos tropezamos
Cárcel y hospitales cubren nuestras eras
Pagaré mis culpas y estaré a tu lado
Para así adorarte y nunca dejarte

Es de noche y en su celda se oye un lamento

Overall Meaning

The song "El Ausente" by Pastor Lopez Y Su Combo tells the story of a mother who is desperately searching for her son, who she does not know has been imprisoned as an absentee. The singer, who is the son, pleads to the judge to allow his mother to visit him so that he can see her and ask for her forgiveness. He regrets leaving his mother alone and wants to make things right, even if it means paying for his mistakes in jail. The song is powerful in its themes of regret, motherly love, and the consequences of one's actions.

In the second verse, we hear the son's lament as he is alone in his cell at night. Even though he does not excuse his actions, he still wishes to see his mother and ask for her forgiveness. The song speaks to the universal experience of making mistakes and wanting to make things right. It is a heartfelt appeal to the judge to allow the mother to see her son, and to the listeners to never take their loved ones for granted.
