Fresh from a successful string of regional headline tour dates, they have also toured the UK with Keston Cobblers’ Club and recorded a live video session for ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris so far this year. They made their festival debut in 2012 at Festibelly, on the same line-up as acts including Bastille and We Were Evergreen and, having spent the latter part of 2013 touring the festival circuit (including Green Man, LeeFest, Standon Calling and London FolkFest ) they return this summer to make their debut at Cambridge Folk Festival in addition to Lyme Folk Weekend, Hop Farm, Larmer Tree, Wilderness and Green Man festivals.
They released their debut record The Boatswain’s Refuge EP in May 2013. Produced by BBC Folk Award nominee Ben Walker and recorded at the historic Crypt Studios in north London, the EP was released via Folkroom Records and radio highlights include BBC Radio 2 amongst others. They were also asked to record a song for For Folk’s Sake’s annual Christmas compilation in 2013 and their version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen was championed by both BBC Radio 6 and Amazing Radio.
"One of, if not the single most promising folk act to emerge so far this decade."

Another Day
Patch and the Giant Lyrics

It's there you've lain me down
Crawl away, crawl away
To safety now
As I stepped into the river
You left me there to drown
Crawl away, crawl away
Oh, I'm better than this
But your hand is a fist
And a fist is all it takes
Won't you break my bones
And smash my swollen face
And I know your mind
I see your gun
There's nowhere to run
And oh, now everything's black
And I'm under attack
And my body is falling down
Cold, I know where now
Who can fill his crown
My eyes are green
My hands are tired
There's nowhere to hide
And you said hey, (hey!)
Another day in another town
And you said hey, (hey!)
And anyway, I'll only let you down
And you said hey, (hey!)
Another day in another town
And you said hey, (hey!)
And anyway, I'll only let you down
And you said hey, (hey! hey! hey!)
Another day in another town
And you said hey, (hey! hey! hey!)
And anyway, I'll only let you down
And you said hey, (hey! hey! hey!)
Another day in another town
And you said hey, (hey! hey! hey!)
And anyway, I'll only let you down!
The lyrics of "Another Day" by Patch and the Giant describe a story of betrayal and abandonment. The song opens with the singer being left for dead at the riverbank after being betrayed by someone they trusted. As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the singer is in danger, potentially facing violence and even death at the hands of their betrayer. The chorus repeats the phrase "Another day in another town" several times, serving as a reminder that this is not the first time the singer has been abandoned and misled.
The second verse provides further detail about the singer's situation, and highlights their helplessness in the face of their assailant. The line "And I know your mind, I see your gun, there's nowhere to run" emphasizes the overwhelming sense of danger and dread that the singer feels, as they realize they are trapped and unable to escape their attacker. The last verse takes a melancholy turn as the singer resigns themselves to their fate, accepting that they will likely die and wondering who will take their place once they are gone.
