All week (all week)
Weekend reach now itβ²s time to play (time to play)
Its time for me to hit de streets
Feelin' good cause I just got payed
Iβ²m ready to wuk my
Put hands in the air
Sing out loud and clear
In Patrice Robert's song "Money Done," the lyrics describe the feeling of finally receiving payment after a week of hard work and the eagerness to hit the streets and enjoy a night out. The first two lines "Work hard all week (all week) Weekend reach now it's time to play (time to play)" sets the tone for the rest of the song, indicating the excitement and anticipation of the weekend. The lyrics then go on to describe the feeling of being paid and the ability to finally relax and have some fun. The line "Feelin' good cause I just got payed" emphasizes the relief and happiness that comes with receiving payment for one's labor.
The chorus of the song is an invitation to wuk up, put your hands in the air and sing out loud with the music. This embodies the Trinidadian culture of "wukking up," which is a style of dancing that involves gyrating one's hip to the beat of the music. The song's upbeat rhythm and lyrics make it a popular choice during Carnival season, a time of celebration in Trinidad and Tobago.
