You were searching for a place to hide
Lost and lonely, now you've given me the will to survive
When we're hungry, love will keep us alive
Don't you worry, sometimes you've just got to let it ride
The world is changing right before your eyes
Now I've found you, there's no more emptiness inside
When we're hungry, love will keep us alive
I would die for you, climb the highest mountain
Baby, there's nothing I wouldn't do for you
Now I've found you, there's no more emptiness inside
When we're hungry, love will keep us alive
I would die for you
, climb the highest mountain
Baby, there's nothing I wouldn't do for you
In this song, Paul Carrack is singing about finding love in a world that can be harsh and unforgiving. He begins the song by describing how he was standing alone against the world outside, while the person he's singing to was searching for a place to hide. The two of them have been struggling with loneliness and emptiness until they found each other, and now they can survive through any challenge because of their love.
The lines "When we're hungry, love will keep us alive" and "Don't you worry, sometimes you've just got to let it ride" both speak to the idea that love is a powerful force that can sustain us through difficult times. Carrack is essentially saying that as long as they have each other and the love they share, they can weather any storm. The line "I would die for you, climb the highest mountain, Baby, there's nothing I wouldn't do for you" is the ultimate expression of devotion and sacrifice, which further emphasizes the strength of their love.
Overall, "Love Will Keep Us Alive" is a heartfelt ode to the transformative power of love in the face of adversity. It suggests that when we find someone we truly love, we can overcome any obstacle life throws our way.
