Because fans generate a lot more money than just a couple of song purchases on iTunes and because they're marketing to a mass of 12-30 year old men who are at least slightly tech-savvy and can pirate anything for free anyways. At least this way they are gaining respect from those who think all music should be free ultimately creating fans which may follow them for months or years and justify that they like them so much that, "I want to support them with real money now, even though they didn't ask for it."

How long have you played the free-to-play video game league of legends? Have you ever justified spending real money on it because you appreciate the fact that it's not a pay-to-win system or that Riot does a good job communicating/listing to their community?

Give people free things and if they like it, they'll want to pay you. Who woulda thought? It almost makes me think that if energy was entirely self-sustaining and free if we could do away with the whole currency system and take only what we need and create only because we want to better humanity. Maybe even no wars. "Some may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."

I want to pay them because I don't like to be given things for free, it would mean that someone isn't getting paid for doing their job. Would you like to not get paid for doing your job? Didn't think so. I would buy the album regardless to the connection with Riot Games, assuming I heard of them when they did not have a company showing millions of people their talent. I don't pirate things either. Everyone should be earning their own wages. The system works. People who bitch about things needing to be free then they are just upset because they don't have a job.

I'm totally digging the vocal-less avenue for a project like this. Never been a huge fan of the power-metal friendly cleans despite how catchy the previous two songs were. I feel like the instrumentals let the mind wonder through Runeterra a bit more freely. I am very much aware it is a League oriented musical endeavor and, clever as they may be, can do without the name drops of items and abilities.

Good news guys, i just checked the LoL wiki on the pentakill band and it says that there will be 5 more songs in this album. They are called "Last Whisper" "The Hex Core" "The prophecy" "Thornmail" and "Orb of winter". Also since all of the song names are items in the game exept for "the prophecy" it might be a hint to a new item.

I like how you can identify different metal genres in each song:

Lightbringer -> Melodic death metal/progressive metal
