In the early days their work included mainly covers from acts like Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, and other synthpop legends.
Three years later (and after gaining serious proficiency on Cubase while attempting to write their own material) the friends were introduced to Lars who was just finishing school and coincidentally was looking to perform some songs at his own graduation party. That’s how they decided to join forces and seize the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. And so they did... they had their first chance to play covers of songs from Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, REM, and even their own music!
They enjoyed their first gig so much that they decided to continue working together and write brand new material.
As time passed by, Drazen and Lars seemed to artistically connect, they would spend nights playing REM and brit-pop covers, and as they continued collaborating the project began to turn a bit more acoustic, with a much greater emphasis on guitar sounds... This may have prompted Drazen's friend to leave the band in June 1995 to start a project of his own.
It was a turning point for Perfidious Words. Drazen and Lars had to pull all their resources together in order to begin making their own recordings. They worked hard to attain the electronic equipment that allowed them to produce their first demos.
The first demos emerged in 1996, and the band did not waste any time in submitting them to as many record companies as they could. The feedback was tremendous. That is why Trisol Music Group, which was one of the first record labels to respond, signed them immediately.
And so in 1997 they finally were able to records their first EP ‚Ruined’ which was released in October of that year. Several CDs were released after that from 1998 to 2000, including 'It means a lot to me', 'Welt', and 'Zwischen Zeitrausch und Leben'.
In 2001 the sold-out 'Hydrogen Skies' was re-released as 'Hydrogen Skies+', containing bonus material such as b-sides and remixes of previous hits.
Four years after the release of their debut CD their eagerly awaited second album 'Spreading Silence' followed in April 2002. The quality of their music, insightful lyrics, their creativity and powerful melodies are the cause of the continuous growth of their fan base around the globe.
After a long period their next strike was finished. In September 2003 Perfidious Words released their mini-album 'Breaking The Silence' which included remixes by Infekktion, Tom Wax, Sero.Overdose, B!Machine, and many more. It also featured a new track in various versions and a Björk remake.
And the best is yet to come...
The story continues.

Perfidious Words Lyrics

The heads of the city
Starting new
Wind is blowing warm air
Over your weary skin
Stepped into the world last night
And walked a shining road
I took all the chances just to
Find what we're living for
Losing myself, and I dream of you
To give in to your battles
Is harder than going
On like this
Where is the one you've been
Desperately waiting
For all your life?
Stepped into the world last night
And walked the darkest road
I took all the chances just to
Find what's worth living for
Losing myself, and I dream of you
Losing myself, and I dream of you
Silver and shining lights
Attracting me
The mirror draws a picture
What do you see?
Stepped into the world last night
And walked a shining road
I took all the chances just to
Find what we're living for
Losing myself, and I dream of you
Losing myself, and I dream of you
The lyrics of "Mirror" by Perfidious Words describe the journey of a person who steps into the world at night and walks both a shining and a dark road, taking chances to find what they're living for. The sun rising over the heads of the city starts something new, and the warm wind blowing over the weary skin brings a sense of freshness and rejuvenation. The singer dreams of someone they have lost, desperately waiting for them all their life, but giving in to battles is harder than going on like this, suggesting that this relationship has been tumultuous and intense.
The song seems to feature a lot of imagery, with silver and shining lights attracting the singer to the mirror, where they see a reflection of themselves. The mirror draws a picture, but the lyrics suggest that it is up to the viewer to decide what they see. To me, this part of the song represents the idea that we have to look at ourselves honestly and reflect on what we see, even if it's not always easy to face.
Overall, "Mirror" by Perfidious Words is a deeply introspective song that explores themes of love, loss, and self-reflection. The lyrics are filled with vivid imagery and emotion, painting a picture of a person searching for meaning in a world that can sometimes seem harsh and unforgiving.
