Neatly described as one of the world's best-kept secrets, Blake has released five studio albums, a sountrack to french movie "Presque Rien" and a live album recorded with an orchestra at Cirque Royale in Brussels.
In February 2005 Blake received a gold disc for two songs he co-wrote with Marco Sabiu for French icon Francoise Hardy. The album also won a French grammy.
Blake also had two songs featured in the movie "Trois Petites Filles", directed by Cannes award winning director, Jean-Loup Hubbert. He has collaborated with French Top 20 artist, Emilie Simon, performing a duet and scoring the choral arrangements.
Perry Blakes sixth studio album 'Canyon Songs' will be released in spring 2007. It's quite a departure from previous work with a strong melancholic country flavour.

Broken Statue
Perry Blake Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Like the inside of a church
That has never seen two lovers
Just before they lose their thirst
She likes nature in spite of
What nature did to her
And she loves enough to jaywalk
Enough to get hurt
And if she falls in the path of
The midday traffic
I will sleep by the bed of a broken statue
Radio for help now
She's gone missing again
Without a raincoat or a hairbrush
Without a witness or a trail
We like nature in spite of
What nature does to us
And we love to jaywalk
But not enough to get hurt
And if she walks in the path
Of the midday traffic
I will keep by the grave of a broken statue
If she walks in the path
Of the midday traffic
I will walk in the path
Of the midday traffic
And she falls in the path
Of the midday traffic
I will keep by the grave of a broken statue
The lyrics of "Broken Statue" by Perry Blake have a melancholic tone to them. The song seems to be about a woman who is described as wearing a complexion "like the inside of a church", which could mean that she is pure or perhaps even innocent. She likes nature, despite what it has done to her, and she loves enough to take risks. The songwriter seems to be in love with her, as evident from their willingness to watch over her even if she gets hurt or lost.
The mention of the midday traffic and the use of the phrase "If she falls in the path of the midday traffic" appears twice in the song, which could symbolize the dangers of life and how easily one can get hurt or lost. The idea of a broken statue shows that the woman might have been broken herself, perhaps emotionally or spiritually. The lyric of "I will keep by the grave of a broken statue" is also quite interesting, as it suggests that the songwriter will always be there for her no matter the circumstances, even if she has lost her way or even if she is gone.
Overall, the song Broken Statue presents a picture of someone who is broken and lost, but also shows that there is someone out there who cares for her deeply and is willing to watch over her, even if it means watching over a broken statue.
