@Billswax Apples to oranges. Photek should be compared to Roni Size, Goldie, LTJ Bukem, or Grooverider. Venetion and Square are more IDM style (Aphex Twin).

I fucking LOVE this tune! If you do some digging on youtube, photek was making his own breaks whilst every other DnB producer was an Amen break sampler. Light years ahead of his time. Like a shaolin monk, but with dnb. So fucking precise with every beat, every sound. A masterclass in minimalism.

He used the amen break a whole lot, yes he did process it alot but an amen was used considerably. All producers used it and processed it in different ways. Photek was just a highly skilled at break manipulation

43 at the time of writing this. I heard this back in the day and thought it was great but listening to it again after years and years and I think I have a greater appreciation for it now. A lot of the old electronica from back in the day seems to have held up really well. FSOLs Dead Cities album is a beginning to end stone cold masterpiece, same with Modus Operandi.
