Faccini began his music career in London in the band 'Charley Marlowe', which he fronted alongside the poet Francesca Beard. In 2001, the band ended and Piers started solo work. He writes music for television - notably the BBC docudrama 'Killing Hitler' - as well as painting. His first solo album and EP 'Leave No Trace' came out in 2004.
He has guested on a series of other albums some of which are released on the 'Label-Bleu' label.
His style is rhythmic and melodic. His album is mostly based around acoustic guitar riffs, whereas his earlier music and TV themes reflect his interest in dance music.
He is currently based in France.

That Cry
Piers Faccini Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Up came the sails and down went the sigh
That cry was a deafening cry
A note unbroken by the lay or lie
Out to the east and out to the west
Cried out more until they cried out less
That cry was a bellowing cry
A liquid salt over water and ground
That sound was a tide of sound
The washed up mud on a burial mound
Out to the north and out to the south
Words are like pearls from a gilded mouth
That sound was an ocean of sound
So raise up your voice and shout
Shout til the crying is out
Raise up your voice and shout
Shout til the devil is out
People cry and people sing
These are the words we tell
These are the words we bring
That shout was the flame of a shout
The burnt up ashes in the dust of a drought
That shout was a fireball shout
The blackened trace from the battle and rout
Out to the east and out to the west
Cried out more until they cried out less
That shout was the flame of a shout
That wail was a piercing wail
The cold dry snap of descending hail
That wail was the peak of a wail
The very last step on an endless trail
Out to the north and out to the south
Words are like pearls from a gilded mouth
That wail was a piercing wail
So raise up your voice and shout
Shout til the crying is out
Raise up your voice and shout
Shout til the devil is out
People cry and people sing
These are the words we tell
These are the words we bring
The song "That Cry" by Piers Faccini is a poetic exploration of the power of sound, and how it can evoke various emotions and experiences in people. The repeated use of the word "cry" throughout the lyrics creates a sense of mourning and loss, but also a suggestion that this cry could be turned into something empowering and cathartic. The first verse describes this cry as "bellowing" and "deafening", suggesting its intensity and volume. Despite its overwhelming nature, the cry is also described as unbroken and continuous.
The second verse shifts focus to the sound itself, describing it as an "ocean of sound" and a "tide of sound". The use of water-related imagery emphasizes the fluidity and ever-changing nature of sound. The third verse introduces the idea of using our own voices to counteract this cry and shout until the crying and the devil are both gone. The use of the word "devil" implies that the cry is not just a personal emotion, but something more sinister that needs to be overcome.
The final verses continue this theme of shouting and raising our voices, as a way to counteract the wail and the shout. The use of the word "people" emphasizes the communal nature of sound and how it can be used to unite us. The final lines, "These are the words we tell/These are the words we bring" suggest that sound, and the words that come from it, are a powerful way of communicating our thoughts and feelings.
Overall, the lyrics to "That Cry" are a poetic exploration of the power of sound and how it can evoke various emotions and experiences in us. Through vivid imagery and repeated refrains, the song suggests that sound can be both overwhelming and cathartic, and that our own voices can be a powerful tool for overcoming sorrow and despair.
