First After Me
Pilot Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You can come first after me
Don't worry about the way it could be
Oh no boy
I can see the sun go down
Don't you worry about the way I frown
Oh no boy, oh no boy
I can catch a sunny day
I can catch it when I'm far away
Oh no boy
Don't you think I've made you so proud
You're no longer just a face in the crowd

Oh no boy, oh no boy
Repeat *

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Pilot's song "First After Me" are intriguing and open to interpretation. The singer is talking to someone, most likely a lover, telling them that they can come first after them. The singer is trying to reassure this person that they do not need to worry about any potential negative outcomes or consequences of being with them. The singer seems to see the person they are talking to as a source of light and happiness, mentioning the sun setting and rising, and they are telling their lover that they are not the cause of their recent frown.

Towards the end of the song, the singer mentions that the person they are speaking to has made them so proud and that they are no longer just a face in the crowd. It is possible that the person they are talking to has recently accomplished something significant, and the singer is expressing their admiration and gratitude. However, it is also possible that the singer is trying to give their lover a sense of significance and worth, emphasising that they are not just another person in their life.

Overall, "First After Me" is a song that seems to be about love, reassurance, and comfort. The lyrics are vague enough to allow for a variety of interpretations, but the general mood of the song is one of positivity and warmth.

I am really enjoying listening to these Pilot tracks again..Wasn't there a track on this album that mentioned 'running water' or something like that?...It was a track I really used to love but I haven't seen it on YouTube yet. Strange, because most of the other tracks are up.
