I remember being around 10 when I heard this for the first time. I had no idea it was an old song. I had no idea what the context of the song was (considering the political climate of the time).

I didn't know what Pink Floyd was at all. But when that bass hit for the first time while I was sneaking my brother's iPod (I routinely stole it) under my covers one night... my eyes were opened. It felt like suddenly something was unlocked.

I felt tugged along on a journey... like I was on a quest. Like I needed to go, or else miss out on the greatest adventure ever. I really felt it. I felt like I was holding a wonderful secret right under my family's own roof. Magic, fucking MAGIC. Dark fucking awesome MAGIC.

By the time the song was over, had I attempted to speak, I wouldn't have been able to. The song literally took my breath away. Or maybe it was all the CO2 building up from the air trapped under my heavy blanket.

Whatever. I think that's what their music does. It dances over the surreal, pulls you into a dream, yet the themes are more than often grounded in a dark, underworld-like reality the likes of which seems buried in the past. It pulls you in so many directions.

God fucking dammit I love this song.

I love this guitar solo. It's underrated, understated, sublime, and transcendent. It takes me back to the time when I first heard this song. I was an awkward teen full of discontent and rage. David Gilmour's solo was the sound of my soul crying out for recognition and for the answers to why am I here and do I even matter.

Anne Knakkergaard I used to listen to some really spacey sound from a great pair of cans. One that comes to mind was the opening of a pod in "War of the Worlds". Also, as a freshman at NCSU, I was spellbound listening to a quadrophonic (don't recall which version--CD-4, I think--LP of the seashore via my quad 'phones. XM Channel 27 (formerly Ch 40, Deep Tracks, used to have a black light hour, and also a headphone hour around 10 p.m. or midnight. I hope more and more parents will pass the torch to their children and help them experience the wonders of vinyl records, and of truly listening (no clocks ticking, fluorescent lights, a/c, or 'fridge, to distract from the pure music). It's magical, especially a great pressing of a stellar recording/ virtuoso performance played on high-end gear.

I have the HD800S, and I think this obviously slowed down version (yes with lowered pitch) sounds horrendous. But atleast they avoid having the video removed by altering the 'rate' which you might refer to as speed -which is wrong.

I prefer the 45 RPM 7" single, it sounds much more nuanced and full-bodied to the digital release.

This song, and well, this entire album, is referring to a metaphorical wall. A wall that the main character of the album "Pink" builds around himself to isolate himself to society. The wall contains bricks, each brick being another bad experience in his life. In Part 1, it talks about his father dying in war. In this part, it talks about the schooling, and the bad experiences, adding to the wall, hence "all in all, it's just another brick in the wall."

I became hooked on THE WALL Album in 1981, also several other PINK FLOYD Albums before and since.
It’s like a musical drug (LOL) .. as you just don’t get enough ! Once it’s in your veins …it’s in your veins. I’ve upgraded from vinyl to CD’s several years ago, and estimated that I must have listened to these albums more than 70x the past 36 years !
Tonight 04 Nov 2017, my grand-daughters (aged 3 & 4) ‘danced’ with me on the cut “Another Brick in
the Wall Part 2” . ..imagine ! Nostalgic. In my mind THE WALL Album must fall in a GOAT (Greatest Of All Times) category. Comparable with THE BEATLES, who will be remembered for great music too (granted), but dare I say are more fondly remembered for their pioneering breakthrough contribution in rock band music.

PINK FLOYD (especially R Waters & D Gilmore contributions) define the term “Timeless Music”. It will still be powerful, fascinating, appreciated and enjoyed for many more years to come.

Still brings tears to my eyes. Driving back to the airport with my godmother who I got to know properly over a week. She was like a second mum to me and listening to this on the way home just brought all the emotion out. Fantastic record.

I actually sang this song on stage with them and like 14 other kids at the American Airlines stadium in downtown Dallas about 9-10 years ago. It was the only song we were on stage for in the concert, and we only did the "Hey! Teacher! Leave those kids alone!" part, but this song always takes me back to those times.

This song is actually from the perspective of a young character, literally named "Pink Floyd" as his response to a brutal and restrictive teacher. Its wholesale condemnation of education is a reflection of the immaturity of the 12-13 year old Pink. The Wall really should be watched as a whole movie/listened to as an entire album.

Not being from an English speaking country, I remember hearing this song ever since I was a small child, and Waters crazy shouting at the end always amazed me!

And recently I discovered that he yells "Yes, you behind the bike shed". For 30 years I had no clue what he was yelling 😂
