Rana
Polem Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Rana hoy me preguntó
¿Que pienso yo de mi?
Rana no veo nada más
Solo lo que otros ven en mi
Creo que mientes al decir
Que soy perfecto

Ayer salí con la abeja para caminar
Y de tanta hambre me comí
A su madre y su panal
Aún mientras gritaba
Te perdono, olvida ya
No le creí
No le creí

Creo que vivo y no vivo
Vivo la vida de los demás
Creo que amo y no amo
Solo cuando otros me aman
Creo que quiero ir y no quiero
Quiero lo que necesito para mi
Todo es para mi

Si miras a muy adentro
Estoy peludo y me alimento
De los más débiles que yo
Y tu rana tan perfecta
Tan bonita y tan atenta
Me das espacio para vivir

Me vistes nacer y me viste morir
Y te amo en tus poderes
Y aún cuando los olvidas

Yo te amo cuando eres atenta
Y cuando me olvidas

Overall Meaning

In Polem's song Rana (which means frog in Spanish), the singer seems to be meditating on their own self-image and how others perceive them. The chorus begins with the frog (Rana) asking what the singer thinks of themselves, to which they respond that they only see what others see in them. They then accuse the frog of lying when it says they are perfect. This could be interpreted as a commentary on how we rely on the opinions of others to form our own self-perceptions, and how this can be damaging if we only focus on external validation rather than our own internal sense of self.

The verse describes a seemingly unrelated incident where the singer goes for a walk with a bee but ends up eating the bee's mother and hive out of hunger. Even though the bee forgives them, the singer says they don't believe it. This could be a metaphor for how we often harm those closest to us without realizing it, and how forgiveness doesn't always come easily.

The second half of the song continues the theme of self-image, with the singer expressing confusion about their own desires and motivations. They feel like they are living the lives of others, only loving when others love them, and wanting to go places but not really knowing why. They end the song with a tribute to the frog, saying they love it even when it forgets about them.

Overall, Rana seems to be a reflective and introspective song about the complexities of human relationships and self-perception.
