1) POMPEYA is an up-and-coming indie rock band from Moscow, Russia. It is a project created by members of Moscow-based bands Silence Kit and Мои Любимые Игры. The debut single check was recorded in the beginning of 2007 and quickly became popular. Then the second single traveller was released. POMPEYA released their full-length album Tropical in 2011.
Moscow sure sounds a lot like Brooklyn in Pompeya's beat-driven indie rock. Stiff-backed rhythms culled from the dance-pop pool, expansive New Wave vocals, and gleaming guitars point to a hipster truism: '80s music is great now that we can pick and choose.
POMPEYA is:
Denis Agafonov - bass;
Daniil Brod - guitar & voice;
Nairi Simonian - drums.

To The Orient
Pompeya Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When you mess with us - this is where it ends
Pulling me pulling me far to the Orient
Trying to fix what I can't mend
Please don't go down a flooded tunnel
Told you to listen through the lies
We all wanna be a part of the bubble
But we're living our saddest dream inside
When you run from the winter - it starts again
Could it be could it be something that we can
Something we can under stand
Please don't go down a flooded tunnel
Told you to listen through the lies
We all wanna be a part of the bubble
But we're living our saddest dream inside
The lyrics to Pompeya's song "To the Orient" explore themes of displacement and the search for meaning and understanding in life. The opening line, "I was born in the land of Tyrant," suggests a place or situation that is oppressive and limiting. The following line, "When you mess with us - this is where it ends," implies a sense of danger and confrontation.
The next line, "Pulling me pulling me far to the Orient," suggests a desire to escape and seek something new and different. However, the singer acknowledges that they cannot fix what they cannot mend, indicating a sense of frustration and helplessness. The lines "Please don't go down a flooded tunnel/Told you to listen through the lies" suggest a warning against blindly following a path that may lead to danger or disappointment.
The chorus, "We all wanna be a part of the bubble/But we're living our saddest dream inside," speaks to the human desire to belong and be included in society, but also acknowledges the sense of being trapped or unfulfilled.
Overall, the lyrics of "To the Orient" touch on universal experiences of feeling disconnected and searching for meaning, while also navigating the dangers and uncertainties of life.
