In 1995 a self-produced demo garnered interest from various record labels and the group changed its name to Prettier Than Pink. VIVA Records eventually signed them up. After five months, an eponymous debut album went Gold in the Philippines and the single "Cool Ka Lang," written and composed by the band's lead singer and founding member Lei Bautista, reached no. 1 on the OPM charts.
By 1997, Prettier Than Pink had undergone a line-up transformation, with Bautista remaining as the group's leader. Their second album, UnPink, took a less commercial turn; but the release received regional airplay with "Baby" and a remake of the OPM classic "BF Kong Baduy." In 1998, Lei Bautista was nominated for an Awit award for "Baby."
Bautista left for the U.S. shortly thereafter, reviving Prettier Than Pink in America as a New Wave-styled group with guitarist Pamela Aquino, bassist Melody del Mundo, and drummer Ann Connolly. In 2005, Prettier Than Pink started recording their U.S. debut for the Sutton Records label.

And I was feelin' quite alright
And I was wishin' that you were mine, O mine
O, I was thinkin' of you and I
And I was dreamin' you were by my side
And I was wishin'
That you were mine, O mine
Refrain:
Over waves my feeling soar
When skied are blue
I just want more
The sunshine's high
My heart beats like never before
O, I'm still thinkin'
Do I have to try
To make this daydream, not a lie
And I am wishin' that you are mine, O mine
And I've been thinkin'
That we'd Go out and we'd be laughin'
O so load and we're wishin'
That you are mine, O mine
Repeat Refrain
And that you'd give me a diamond ring
And then you'd give me a wedding ring
An I'm still wishin' that you are mine, O mine
And in our honeymoon, we'd have kids so soon
O, I was walkin' late at night
And I was feelin' quite alright
And now I'm wishin' that you were mine, O mine
La la la la la la la la...
The lyrics of Prettier than Pink's song "Daydream" explore the theme of longing for someone and daydreaming about being with them. The singer is walking late at night, feeling alright, but wishing that the person they are thinking of was theirs. They dream of being with this person, going out together, and laughing. They even imagine getting engaged, married, and having children with them. The singer is aware that it's just a daydream, and wonders if it could become a reality.
The repetitive refrain in the song emphasizes the intensity of the feelings the singer is experiencing. They wake up and see the shore, their feelings soaring over the waves, and find themselves wanting more. The imagery of blue skies and a beating heart convey the singer's excitement and anticipation. However, there is also a hint of uncertainty in the refrain as the singer questions whether they have to try to make their daydream a reality.
Overall, the lyrics of "Daydream" paint a vivid picture of the singer's yearning for someone they desire. The upbeat and catchy melody of the song adds to the dreamy, whimsical feel of the lyrics.
