While their early efforts are generally categorized as aggrotech, later releases incorporated a disparate set of musical and aesthetic influences, notably black metal and industrial metal. They belonged to the so-called "second wave" of American harsh ebm, along with bands such as Dawn of Ashes, Die Sektor, and Tactical Sekt.
The group went on their first hiatus at the end of 2010 due to Bellum's opiate addiction, but returned to the stage in October 2011 for a performance in New York and released their last album Order of the Shadow: Act I in 2013.
After Rotny Ford and Jon Siren quit the band in March 2014, Nero Bellum stated on his personal Facebook page that he wanted to perform one last series of concerts before putting an end to the band. Live band members Dorian Starchild (guitar), Brent Ashley (bass), and Kriz Dk (drums) joined Psyclon Nine for their final performances.
A remix for Limnus entitled The Devils Are Inside the Walls (Psyclon Nine Remix) was released in August 2014, followed by a second hiatus that lasted 8 months.
On April 13, 2015, Psyclon Nine created a new official Facebook page and announced a live performance at the L.A. Dark United Underground in Los Angeles, CA on May 2, 2015. The reformed lineup for the show featured Nero Bellum (vocals), Dorian Starchild (guitars), Ashes (guitars), and Raanen Bozzio (drums).
They went on to do a few more shows, resulting in Psyclon Nine returning as a live band. Raanen Bozzio was subsequently replaced by Anthem on electronic drums.
The band name is a malapropism of Zyklon B, the trade name of hydrogen cyanide used in the gas chambers during the holocaust. The "Nine" is used because of the number's significance in Aleister Crowley's numerological writings.

We the Fallen
Psyclon Nine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I am the gun : the antagonist :
The forgotten son
Strip me of life
Tear from flesh and peel from bone
Bleeding tears, i still see through
Where these eyes were sewn
Wings spread from the
Blackened earth in eternal dusk
Refuse the bitterness
Extinguishing the flame from the heart
All in the shadow
Of the heretic and the fallen stars
Out of the ashes
New fire shall burn
I am the fire : born of agony
I am the gun : the antagonist :
The forgotten son
Strip me of life
Tear from flesh and peel from bone
Bleeding tears, i still see through
Where these eyes were sewn
Wings spread from the
Ashes of your anguish shroud this
Blackened earth in eternal dusk
Oh yes father
For you i'll have this world on it's knees
Oh yes father
For you i'll spread their legs
Like disease
Out of the ashes
New fire shall burn
The lyrics to Psyclon Nine's song We the Fallen speak of a person who is the embodiment of agony and despair, represented as fire and a gun. The singer is the forgotten son who has been stripped of life and torn apart, but still continues to see through bleeding tears. The ashes of their anguish give birth to wings that spread, shrouding the earth in eternal dusk. The person refuses to succumb to the bitterness that could extinguish the fire in their heart, instead choosing to thrive in the shadows of the heretic and the fallen stars. The person is willing to do anything for their father and spread his influence, even if it means bringing the world to its knees and spreading disease.
The lyrics are full of imagery, with fire and a gun representing pain and despair. The singer is a forgotten son who has been torn apart but still refuses to give up. The person is willing to do anything for their father, even if it means spreading disease and bringing the world to its knees. The phrase "out of the ashes, new fire shall burn" speaks to a sense of rebirth and renewal, even in the midst of despair.

I'll never get tired of this song. So much going on. Also the production is insane.

That initial scream at around 0:30 is purely ingenious!
This intro from 0:00 to 1:00 is, hands-down, probably the best I've ever heard... atmosphere wise.

Wait until you hear my screams! I can match all these screams without a single effect or reverb.

I love the ambience of surround sound my speakers emit whilst playing this chaotic and intense song. I feel like I'm there with him screaming these inaudibles of ample and gargantuan greatness.
