The group was founded by Marcella after she was inspired by the animated film Belleville Rendez-vous. The Puppini Sisters' debut single, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", is a cover of the iconic hit single by The Andrews Sisters and, although the three are not actually related, they name themselves so in tribute to The Andrews Sisters. One of the more unusual songs in their repertoire is Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights", sung in the style of the Andrews Sisters. Marcella Puppini first studied Fashion Design at St Martins School of Art, and later joined Stephanie O'Brien and Kate Mullins at Trinity College of Music in London.
The Puppini Sisters are currently supported by a three-piece band featuring Martin Kolarides on guitar, Henry Tyler on drums/percussion and upright bassist Nick Pini.

I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
Just thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong
And I learned how to carry on
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me
Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive
It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me
The lyrics of the song "I Will Survive" by the Puppini Sisters is a story of a woman who has gone through a heartbreak but eventually learned to pick herself up and move on. The song starts off with the woman being afraid and petrified at the thought of living without her partner. However, as time passes, she realizes that she no longer needs him and has grown stronger as a result. It's clear that he did her wrong, and she spent many nights feeling sorry for herself. But eventually, she learned to hold her head up high and not let her heartbreak define her.
When her ex comes back into her life, she realizes that she should have changed the locks and not let him back in. He had hurt her before, and she refused to let him do it again. She tells him to leave and never come back, as he's not welcome anymore. He had tried to hurt her by leaving before, but she had picked up the pieces and moved on. She's learned to love herself and knows that she'll survive as long as she continues to do so.
Overall, the lyrics to "I Will Survive" are empowering and inspirational. It's a message to anyone going through a heartbreak that they too can pick themselves up and move on. The woman in the song has learned that she's stronger than she thought and won't let anyone break her spirit.

Just thinking how you did me wrong
Contemplating how you have mistreated me
And I grew strong
I started to become stronger
And I learned how to carry on
I learned to move on with my life
and so you're back
But now you have returned
from outer space
As if you came from another world
I just walked in to find you here
I was surprised to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
Carrying a sad expression on your face
I should have changed my stupid lock

But I didn't
I will survive
I will overcome this situation

As long as I love myself
I know I will stay alive
I know I will survive
I've got all my life to live
I still have many years to live
I've got all my love to give
I have a lot of love to give
and I'll survive
And I will overcome
It took all the strength I had
I had to be really strong
not to fall apart
So that I wouldn't crumble
kept trying hard to mend
I made a huge effort to heal
the pieces of my broken heart
My shattered heart
and I spent oh so many nights
I spent too many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
Just lamenting my situation
I used to cry
I used to cry a lot
Now I hold my head up high
But now I carry myself with dignity
and you see me
And you see a different person
somebody new
A new version of me
I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you
I'm no longer the helpless person who was still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
But then you decided to come
and just expect me to be free
And expected everything to be just as before
now I'm saving all my loving
But now I'm keeping all my love
for someone who's loving me
For someone who will love me in return

It's a brilliant cover, not only for its fantastic harmonies and vocal nuances, but the way in which it innovatively demonstrates how a disco hustle classic can be transformed into a sensational swing rendition!
