The group was founded by Marcella after she was inspired by the animated film Belleville Rendez-vous. The Puppini Sisters' debut single, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", is a cover of the iconic hit single by The Andrews Sisters and, although the three are not actually related, they name themselves so in tribute to The Andrews Sisters. One of the more unusual songs in their repertoire is Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights", sung in the style of the Andrews Sisters. Marcella Puppini first studied Fashion Design at St Martins School of Art, and later joined Stephanie O'Brien and Kate Mullins at Trinity College of Music in London.
The Puppini Sisters are currently supported by a three-piece band featuring Martin Kolarides on guitar, Henry Tyler on drums/percussion and upright bassist Nick Pini.

What a pair of lips, I'd like to try them for size
I'll just tell him, "Baby, won't you swing it with me"
Hope he tells me maybe, what a wing it will be
So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude"
He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood"
First he held me lightly and we started to dance
And he said "Hey, baby, it's a quarter to three
There's a mess of moonlight, won't cha share it with me"
Then I answered "Baby, don't cha know that it's rude
To keep my sisters waitin' when I'm in the mood"
In the mood, that's what he told me
In the mood, and when he told me
In the mood, my heart was skippin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"
In the mood, for all his kissin'
In the mood, his crazy lovin'
In the mood, what I was missin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"
First he held me lightly when we started to dance
Then he held me tightly what a dreamy romance
And he said "Hey, baby, it's a quarter to three
There's a mess of moonlight, won't cha share it with me"
Then I answered "Baby, don't cha know that it's rude
To keep my sisters waitin' when I'm in the mood"
In the mood, that's what he told me
In the mood, and when he told me
In the mood, my heart was skippin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"

The Puppini Sisters' "In The Mood" is a fun and flirty song about a woman who is attracted to a man and is trying to get his attention. She describes his physical features, specifically his eyes and lips, and expresses her desire to dance with him. The man reciprocates her interest and they begin to dance, enjoying a dreamy and romantic moment together. The woman notices the time and worries about keeping her sisters waiting, but ultimately decides to stay in the moment with the man, confessing that she is "in the mood."
The lyrics of "In The Mood" paint a vivid picture of a playful and sensual moment between two people. The woman is confident and unapologetic about her attraction to the man. She takes the initiative to approach him and suggests they "swing it" together. The man responds with equal enthusiasm and they begin to dance, eventually getting lost in the moonlight and each other.
The repeated refrain of "in the mood" emphasizes the passion and desire that the woman is feeling in this moment. The overall tone of the song is upbeat and flirtatious, making it a fun and enjoyable listen.
