Wow. Couldn't disagree more. He pours himself into the music. It's so obvious. He does have an otherworldly quality though. Much of his singing is so pure and fragile - at least in ballads. Queen was very art school, too though. Very much into performance. They're amazing. I love the intricacies of their music, and admire the twists and turns they will often take within a song.

I couldn't disagree more! Freddie's most prominent attribute as a performer (though he excells at everything) is his ability to take you on an emotional rollercoaster through his performances. There isn't a single song of Queen that makes me feel detached, bored, or in any way distant from the song. On the contrary, I am completely consumed and inserted into the story that the song tells! Every sound, every note, every lyric seems to be hitting bull's eye and shakes the core of my being... There is no way in my experience that I can be anymore moved or enticed by a musical performance. There are many other artists that I really like and enjoy listening to, but none of them could reach my inner soul and pull it out the way Queen's music and Freddie's vocal expression does it! There is just something so special and genuine about them that nobody else can immitate or match...

"Jealousy" was penned by Mercury and features May playing his Hairfred acoustic guitar. The guitar had been given a replacement hardwood bridge, chiselled flat, with a small piece of fret wire placed between it and the strings, which lay gently above. Why do I get teary eyed when I listen to this song (and so many other early Queen masterpieces? ) I wonder what it was like back then for Queen while recording their early albums. His voice is so clear and young, and beautiful. A moody piece. Simply said, I LOVE Queen and Freddie.

While I was listening to this song, I was picturing a man sitting in a bar looking at his reflection, depressed and angry, because his girlfriend left him for another guy. The band playing the Music behind him join in on the chorus. Then, the song ends with the man turning around and glares at the band. They look at him nervously and leave quietly.
