More of That Jazz
Queen Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Uninspired and lonely
If you're thinkin' how the days seem long
All you're given
Is what you've been given
A thousand times before
Just more more
More of that jazz
Give me no more
No more of that jazz
Only football gives us thrills
Rock 'n' roll just pays the bills
Only our team is the real team
Bring out the dogs get on your feet
Lay on the floor
Can't help thinkin' I've heard that line before
Just more more
More of that jazz
More no more of that jazz
Give me no more
No more of that jazz
Oh no matter
Fool got no business hanging round and tellin' lies
Bicycle races are coming your way
If you can't beat 'em join them
Fun it
Oh you're gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round
No more, no more, no more
Of that jazz
The lyrics of Queen's song More of That Jazz are a reflection on the monotony of life and the desire for something new and exciting. The first stanza talks about feeling uninspired and lonely with the same routine every day. The repetition of "more of that jazz" emphasizes the uninteresting routine and how the situation needs to change. The second stanza mentions that only football gives us thrills and that rock and roll is just a job that pays the bills. Again, emphasizing that people need something new and exciting in their lives. The use of "laid on the floor" talks about how people become numb to the routines of life and need something to awaken their senses. The song also references other Queen songs like "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Bicycle Races".
The overall theme of the song is about breaking away from routine and seeking out excitement. With the use of musical allusions and metaphors, the lyrics encourage people to be bold and try out new experiences. The phrase "no more of that jazz" is repeated twice in the chorus, indicating the singer's strong desire to break free from the monotony and experience something fresh.

Taylor has the true soul of rock in the band. He possesses a smoky smooth voice that can transition into a towering inferno of falsettos.

He also wrote this song and played lead guitar.

"Jazz" is so underrated!!! Every song is a masterpiece!
@centuryrox
Totally agree! I remember back in 1978, my best friend bought this album and I loved it the first time he played it. When I started to convert my music collection over to CD (late 80s, early 90s), this album was incredibly difficult to find. I ended up buying a Japanese import CD of this album (at 3x the price), but it was worth every penny.
This album is definitely a masterpiece, 2nd only to "A Night at the Opera".
